South Huron field hockey flying high
EXETER — The South Huron District
High School Held hockey team capped a
successful week with a good showing at
a Toronto tournament on Sunday.
Coach Jim Workman said the tourna-
ment provided an opportunity for his
girls to play against some of the top
opposition in the province.
The Panthers tied their first game 0-0
versus North Hastings in an evenly
matched game.
The Panthers dominated game two
versus Newmarket but as the case has
been this season they couldn't score and
tied 0-0.
Despite playing well, South Huron lost
game three 1-0 to last year's Ontario
champions, Waterloo -Oxford.
The Panthers ended the tournament
on a winning note by beating Woburn 1-
0 on a goal by Heidi Muller.
Workman said the team created
numerous chances to increase their
lead. He added the day' of action was a
good experience for the team especially
for the younger players.
South Huron won both home games
last Thursday, the first 2-0 over Mitchell
and the second 5-0 over St. Anne's.
JoDee Regier and Leeanne Erb scored
for the Panthers in the Mitchell game
and Heidi Muller scored twice with
Karly Pinder, Tracy Wilson and Shauna
Koehler each notching a single goal in
the St. Anne's game.
Kelli Fulton recorded both shutouts in
the Panthers net. -
Workman said all 22 players con-
tributed to the winning day.
Earlier in the week, the Panthers
blasted Stratford Central 6-0. JoDee
Rowe scored twice for South Huron with
Jill McCann, Beth Hundey, Erb and,
Muller providing the other goals. Fulton
again notched the shutout.
The final Huron -Perth league games
will be played on Thursday (Oct. 7) at
South Huron. The Panthers will face St.
Marys at 2 p.m. and challenge Listowel
at 3:30 p.m.

hydro lines down. Even a fallen wire that seems
dead can be dangerous. Warn
others to keep clear and

the fallen wire. If
there's a live power71
line touching your
vehicle, stay inside
until a hydro crew
removes the line,
putting even
one foot on the

fatal move to make.
