fellowship and food at
Fun Night on Oct. 1 with a
potluck supper. The
group decided to continue
to hold Fun Night on the.
last Wednesday of each
month beginning in Oct.
Fun Night on Oct. 27 will
have a Hallowe'en theme.

THAMES ROAD - Rev. Marilyn Carter
was in charge of the service on Sunday
morning at Thames Road Church.
The congregation took part in the
Litany for World Wide Communion and
the Affirmation of Faith. Richard Johns
lit the Christ Candle with the assistance
of Rev. Carter.
The children's story was entitled
"Sharing Communion". Ola Batten read

their Sukkah Tent.
On October 7 the Sunbeams will meet
at Thames Road from .9:30 to 11:30 a.m.
New members are welcome. For infor-

On October 12 at 10 a.m. Thames
Road-Elimville women are invited to
Hibbert Church to meet in Daynard Hall
for a coffee hour. Beth Galbraith of
Mitchell will be the guest speaker.
On October 12 at 8 p.m. at Thames
Road, the U.C.W. will meet and the
theme will be "Thanksgiving". The pro -
am will be. provided by Melonie Miller,
°Alexander.; Janis Richardson,
an ,Io and Bev Delbridge. The roll
call will be "Something positive or nega-
tive about October." Group C will serve
lunch.
The Messengers will meet October 21
at 7 p.m. at Elimville Church. Members

called at Breckenridge -Ashcroft Funeral
Home in Owen Sound to pay their
respects to the late Margaret (Luxton)
Franklin on September 23. Some people
from this area attended her funeral on
Friday.

Hockey Funeral Home onriday to pay
their respects to the late Gerry Grubb.
Sympathy isextended to his wife Kay

Calvin Rohde returned home on
Saturday from Stratford General
Hospital after having undergone
surgery.

Angola." Don and Anne Bray received
the offering and were the greeters.
Barry Miller wheeled a cart forward
filled with items for the food bank.
Communion was served by Intinction,
the practice of coming forward to
receive a piece of bread and then dip-
ping it into a cup. Rev. Carter, Judith
Parker and Bruce Delbridge assisted.
The flowers in the sanctuary were
placed in memory of the late Gerry
Grubb by his wife Kay and family.
Sympathy is extended to them.
Life and work of the

The Committee meeting of the church
is called for October 6 at Elimville
Church at 7 p.m. and following the
Council will meet at 8:30 p.m.
On October 10 the Thanksgiving
church service will be held at 10 a.m. at
Elimville. The Sunday School will have

EXETER - Following a
luncheon at Kate's
Station, Vanastra, eight
members met at the
Pentecostal Church,
answering to a roll call
with a scripture verse on
"thanks" or "thanksgiv-
ing".
Shirley Prouty opened
the meeting in prayer.
A gift of $50 was sent to
Katharine Isaac, home
missionary, for her birth-
day.
Over $1,000 was desig-
mated and sent to orphan-
ages in Brazil, Argentina,
Thailand, India and to the
Mozambique Feeding
Program in Africa.
Helen Kendrick gave a
message entitled "Go in
the Power God Gives Us".
The United Way's fall fund-raising campaign started off withbang on the week-
end, by raising $ 1,092 at a benefit concert and barbecue at Gar's Bar and Grill.
United Way executive director Kim Bilcke was pleased with the result and said
"people were very generous." Staff at Gar's donated their time and tips towards
the United Way and owner Gar Penhale donated the money from food sales.
According to Bilcke, about 150 people attended the fund-raiser at Gar's and she
said the large amount of money raised was unexpected. Pictured above are some
