Equipmcnt and tarns life take centre stage
You couldn't see
it all in one day
Continuted from page le
century. Farm machinery
displays and technology
from 1919, 1959 and
1999 formed the basis of
the Back To The Future
theme.
Each day had a parade
of farm machinery and
manure application, pes-
ticide application and
harvesting demonstra-
tions.
The community offered
accommodation in
homes, bed and break-
fasts, motels and camp-
grounds. Church suppers
and restaurants fed the
hungry visitors to the
region.
Sponsorship by busi-
nesses enabled organiz-
ers to ask first-class tal-
ent to perform and to
provide excellent facili-
ties for exhibits and
events.
The 1999 IPM made a
profit although the exact
figures are still unknown.
The proceeds will be
used for community pro-
jects yet to be deter-
mined.
The '99 IPM included
much more than the
events of the past week.
The beautification con-
test, quilt show and
church service were all
successful.
Antique tractors - Agricultural heritage.
• Antique farm equipment covered 20 acres and
included tractors and equipment of all kinds.
City meets conn -
try. Heather Liakso of
Alliston holds a piglet
in the agricultural
exhibit.The sow and
her piglets was a pop-
ular stop for children
throughout the week,
many of whom had
never held a pig
before.
'The Machines in Motion display included harvesting demonstrations with the hat- Clifford's Jason Menkveld, I I, tries how it feels behind the wheel of a lawn tractor
est in technology. at the '99 International Plowing Match on Saturday.
