Fifty-five people took part in the 19th annual Terry Fox Run which began at 2 p.m. at the park. The participants went down the Goshen and back. The Zurich Arena was filled to capacity on Sunday evening for the I.P.M. worship service with members from .60 churches in Huron County taking part in the choir under the direction of Margaret Whitmore of Seaforth. The offertory collection will go to the Canadian Food Grains Bank. Huron Shines in '99 Plowing Match will be held near Dashwood this weel from September 21 to 25, each day from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 at the gate. Thereare community suppers being served every night this week of the Plowing Match at the Zurich Arena from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tickets are available at the. door. An anti -rabies clinic for cats and dogs will be held • at the vet clinic in Zurich on September 22 from 1 to 5 p.m. and September 25 from 8 a.m. to noon. The cost is $10 per pet. The pets must be on a leash or in a cage. The Golden Agers are holding a euchre party on September 27 at the Township hall in Zurich at 7:30 p.m. The cost is $3 at the door with lunch after- wards. Everyone is wel- come. The Women's Institute had a nice day out last Monday, September 13 when about 10 members travelled to Blyth to shop at the Old Mill and have lunch at the Blyth Hotel._. They held their meeting afterward at the home of Bridget Groot at Parkside subdivision. Exeter the volunteer workers of Blessings Community Store on September 13 at the Zurich Mennonite Church. There will be a "Meet the Teacher" barbecue in the gym from5to7p.m. All parents and students are welcome. Phone Pat at the school office for more information on tickets. Students of Zurich Public School will be visiting the Plowing Match on September 24. Their work is being displayed in the Education Tent and they will present a musical per- formance. Classes will be dismissed one hour earlier on the first Monday of each month from October to May for teacher in -ser - vice time. Anopen house will be held on September 30 frorn 7 to 8:30 p.tn. so parents can get acquaint- ed with the teachers. Lisa Dietrich is chair president of the School Council, with Wendy Love as treasurer. Meetings will be . held the. second Wednesday of each month beginning on October 13 at 7 p.m: at the school. All parents are welcome to attend. There will be no classes on September 27 due to a scheduled P.A. day. The reception was held in Kirkton. The groom is the son of Karl and Mary Regier Sr. of Zurich. Mark and Annette Stephan and baby daugh- ter from Tokyo, Japan arrived in Zurich last Wednesday in time to attend the wedding of her brother Karl and Erin Regier Jr. on September 18. They will spend time visiting with his parents Jack and Sandy Stephan and relatives in the area. Darren Alexander and Dawn McAdams were married on September 18 at the United Church 4n Zurich with dinner and reception at Hessenland. The groom is the son of Berit Wallace, RR #2 Zurich. The couple will be living in Exeter. Jonathan and Nalini Hartman were married in Toronto at St. Catharines Siena Church on September 18. Several Hartman and Denomme relatives attended from the area. The groom is the son of Michael and Yvonri; Hartman of. near Bayfield. Following their. honey- moon to Greece, the cou- ple will live in Toronto. • Pat and Barb O'Connor of Lake Bluff, Chicago are spending two weeks visit- ing with her mother Gerry Kane. - Monique Gelinas, Zurich, recently accompanied her girlfriend from St. Anne's School to Hong Kong for 2 1/2 weeks. Her girlfriend is visiting with family members there. Jill Ramer was home for the summer months with parents Jim and Phylis. She has returned to col- lege in Saskatchewan. George and Rosalie Harvey of Redford, Michigan are spending this week at their cottage north of St. Joseph. Bridget and John Groot have . had relatives visiting from Holland for two weeks. They travelled to Ottawa and Quebec. Josephine Denomme spent the previous week- end with daughter Deb and Jim Gavan and grand- daughter in Bright's Grove. Her son Fred is now visiting from Calgary for a few weeks. Happy birthday wishes go to Kaitlin Allen who was five years old on September 23; to Darren Rau on September 25; and to Jeff Rothenberg on September 24. Marien and Hilda Vanderhoek of RR #3 Zurich have removes visit- ing from Holland for two weeks. They will going to the plowing match.
