ambulance seAces
HURON COUNTY —
Provincial downloading
is effecting another core
service in rural Ontario
— land ambulance
services.
In Huron. County, the
province is downloading
the responsibility to the
county. Over the next
year, county council
must decide whether to
deliver the service itself,
contract it out or
continue with the five
existing providers in the
county.
Five public meetings
have been scheduled for
people to raise any
issues, concerns or,
questions about the
future of ambulance
service in Huron County.
The meeting in Exeter
will be Thursday at 7
p.m. at the South Huron
Recreation Centre.
Meetings • will also be
held at .the Seaforth

Repair work
set for
Morrison Dam
closes road
EXETER = As of
September 7, travel
along Concession 2 and -3
in Usborne Township is
closed to through traffic
between Huron Rd. 83
and Huron Street East.
The Ausable Bayfield
Conservation Authority
advises that, in coopera-
tion with the municipali-
ties of Exeter and
Usborne, this interrup-
tion is due to preventa-
tive maintenance work
on Morrisonf Dam.
Part of this work will
involve repairing and
resurfacing the bridge
deck and replacing the
bridge deck curbs.
"Due to the fact that
the existing bridge is
narrow, it is not practical
to maintain an open lane
while work is being
done," says Alec Scott of.
the ABCA.
The estimated time . to
complete 'the project is
eight weeks barring any
weather and/or construc-
tion delays.
The construction com-
pany of Alscott ' and
Associates of London has
been awarded the con-
tract for the project
which also includes
repairs to the stilling
basin retaining walls.
Local residents, busi-
nesses, emergency ser-
vices, school board and
the traffic committee for
the upcoming Plowing
Match have been noti-
fied.
Signs will indicate that
the road is closed, with
local traffic having
access from both ends of
the concession.
