Pledge sheets available for Zurich s Terry Fox Run

ZURICH -Welcome to
those visiting Zurich this
weekend for the Bean
Festival on Saturday.
The Terry Fox Run will
be held in Zurich on
September 19.
Registration will be held
at the park at 1:30 p.m.
with the walk, run, bike
etc. beginning at 2 p.m.,
rain or shine. Pledge
sheets are available at
stores around town or by
phoning Wendy Rowan at
236-4882.. Help will also
be needed.
A new pizza place will
be opening in Zurich on
Main St. E. across from
C.G. Farm Supply.
Plans are underway for
the Home and Garden
Show "Autumn Splendor"
at the Zurich Arena from
September 24 to 26,
sponsored by the
Chamber of Commerce.
The Zurich Minor
Athletic Association cash
calendars are available
from members or you can
contact Nancy Regier at
236-4420. The daily
draws will take place for
the months of November
1999 to February 2000.
Tickets cost $20 and
winning names drawn
are re-entered into the
dram.- Winners will be
awarded from $50 to
$500.
The library in Zurich
has been the place to be
this summer. Many
patrons, especially adults,
have taken advantage of
the free Internet training
from the C.A.P. student,
David Miller. Numerous
children have taken a
very active part in the
summer reading program
"Animal Adventures."
NQW that the summer
reading program is fin-
ished, Helene will be tak-
ing registrations for the
fall story hour for the
three to five year olds. If
you want your children to
participate in this learn-
ing program, phone
Helene at 236-4965 dur-
ing library hours.

Theurer were married at
the Zurich Mennonite
Church on August 21 with
the dinner and reception
at Hessenlafid. The bride
is the daughter of Stu and
Ruth -Ann Steckle, RR la
Zurich. The couple will
live in London.
Peter Corriveau and
family of California are
visiting for a few weeks
with his mother Laurene
Corriveau and relatives in
Goderich. Also this week,
son Doug Corriveau
arrived from Calgary to
visit with family mem-
bers
A family get-together
was held at the home of
Joe and Sandra Overholt
Jr. in London on Saturday
and Sunday. Relatives
attended from 7i rich and
Dashwood..
A bridal shower was
held for Stephanie Peters
on August 21 at the Hay
Township hall in Zurich.
Relatives attended from
Windsor, Toronto and
Welland. She is the
fiancee of Doug Eugill,
and is to be married in
November.
Visitors this week at the

Hartman were family
members from Windsor,
Essex and Livonia,
Michigan.

Diane Klopp of Barrie
and niece Heidi Kropp
spent the past two weeks
travelling to various.
places. They spent a week
in New York visiting
friends and a week in
Blue Water residents picnic in B.
ZURICH - The residents of Blue
Water Rest Home listened to
organ music provided by Norm
Wood, a resident of Grand Cove
Estates. Old favourite hymns
and popular music pleased the
residents.
On Tuesday afternoon, resi-
dents travelled to Bayfield for :a
picnic in the park. Volunteer
driver Glen Thiel, with the assis,
tance of Kay Rydall, Ruth Snider
and Adjuvant Cathy Shantz
helped the residents with lunch
and their journey around the
park. The gazebo and the many
mature shade trees provided
comfort from the alto, The resi-
dents listened to the sounds,
watched the sights and remi-
nisced of their years living in.

Wednesday after oon the
Merry Makers enterta ed the
residents. Gladys VanEgmond
on the piano and accordion and
her "group of Elgin Knott and
Harvey McDowell on violin,
Leona McBride on trumpet,
Mozart Gelinas Sr. on guitar and
Tyndall oadrums provid-
ed great dancing and listening
music.
Rev. Robert Graham, a retired
minister from the Mennonite
Church of Nazarene conducted
the afternoon chapel service. Fr.
Mario Cassar, Interim minister.
at St. Boniface Church, Zurich
provided the Catholic service.
Thursday evening the resi-
dents enjoyed the benefits of
summer and a barbecue in the
courtyard. Those who volun-
teered to serve were Kay Webb
and Dorothy Webber.
Games of euchre„ crokinole,
bean bag toss and checkers
eld
were enjoyed Saturday after
noon by some residents; while
otherspreferred to listen to the
swingin' golden oldies or sit in
the fresh air.
An outing to Zurich Mennonite
Church for the Sunday morning
service for Neil Mustard,
Beatrice Rader, Marie
Gingerich, Philippa Steckle and
Clarence Gascho was provided
by volunteer driver Bob
Dietrich. '`
Sunday afternoon the residents
gathered in the west wing
lounge for a cup of tea or other
refreshment.
The residents look forward to
an outing to St. Joseph Park on
August 23; the Townliners on
August 26; Resident council en
August 27; and a picnic in
Goderich on August 31.

have be sting with
her moth Gerry Kane
for the past couple of
weeks. Huai and Bob
joined them this past
week and unfortunately
was rushed to a hospital
in London for an appen-
dix operation.
Beth Sweeney -Boyle
arrived home in Grand
Bend on August 20 after
working for the past two
weeks as nurse racti-
ttoner in the n g sta-
tion of Kash hewan,
north of Moosonee. The
community is Cree.

Tiernan of Exeter who
recently moved into the
former home of Abe and
Connie DeMooy on
Goshen S. The DeMooy's
have moved to Exeter.
A bridal shower was
held for Debbie Regier on
August 22 at the home of
her parents Evelyn and
Pat Regier, RR #3 Zurich.
Debbie is the fiancee of
Chris Sproule. They plan
to be married in October.

Toronto on August 20 at
the Roy Thompson Hall.
They went on a bus with
Dashwood and area
seniors.
Joseph and Mary -Ann
Keller recently celebrated
their tenth wedding
anniversary. They trav-
elled to Prince Edward
Island for two weeks to
visit relatives. They
enjoyed some deep sea
fishing while there.
Roberta Smith has
passed an exam in
Preliminary Rudiments
with First Class Honours
from the Royal
Conservatory of Music.
