team that won the 10th
annual Brick Super
Novice Invitational
Hockey Tournament in
Edmonton Aug. 4-8.
The Brick Super Novice
tourney is considered the
most prestigious competi-
tion for 10 -year-old hock-
ey players in North
America. Other teams
participating in the tour-
nament included -
Vancouver, Seattle,
Western Canada Native
Selects, Calgary,
Edmonton, Minnesota,
Detroit and Boston.
The Toronto team came
from a 2-0 deficit to
defeat the Winnipeg Jr.
Jets 3-2 in the final.
Toronto doubled the Los
Angeles Jr. Kings 4-2 in
the semi-final. Couture
scored a goal in the semi-
final and ended with two
goals and three assists
over the tournament.
Couture was chosen
third star in the semi-final
win and was given a tro-
phy for the honour. He

Pinder notches third
at Optirnist national
Jr' . golf tournament
IN RSOLL -- Exeter's Karly Pinder showed young
golfers from this area can compete with the big city
duffers.
Pinder, 13, finished third in the guts 12-13 division
at the Canadian Optimist Junior Golf Championships
at Ingersoll Golf & Country Club last week. The
Canadian Optimist tourney is as far as junior girl
golfers can go in competition.
Pinder, who golfs out of Ironwood Golf Club and
who has participated in the club's junior program,
notched her first hole -in -one at the Ainsdale Golf &
Country Club during the Junior Girls All -Ontario
tourney on July 26.
Sherwoods open camp dates
HENSALL -- If September is just round the corner,
hockey fans knowits training camp time.
The Hensall Sr. A Sherwoods hockey club are
ho .. : open training camp/tryouts throughout
weeken s i. in September, all dates at Hensall Arena.
The first tryout is Saturday, Sept. 11, 7 p.m. -9 p.m. at
Hensall; the second isiSunday, Sept. 12, 9 p.m. -11
p.m.
The tryouts continue each Saturday and Sunday in
September at the same times.
Full equipment is required. For more information,

HENSALL -- Slo-pitch enthusiasts can fit in one
more tournament this season with the Hensall Sr. A
Sherwoods co-ed tourney Sept. 17-18 at the Hensall
diamonds.

players will descends upon Exeter Aug. 21-22.
Exeter is hostingtheWOBA mosquito (age 10-11)
championship tournament this weekend at the
Nabisco diamond and diamond one at Exeter
Community Park (beside the Rec Centre).
Teams from Exeter, Owen Sound, Flesherton,
Hanover, Kincardine, Goderich, Mitchell and Listowel
will square off: for the title. Exeter's first game is
Saturday, 9 a.m., at Nabisco diamond
All of Stinday's action; will be at the Nabisco =
diamond. The two championship games' are set for
1030 a.m. and 1:15 p.m.
