SEAFO)ITH Peter and Gloria McFalls of Exeter finished with 3 wins 43 and fourth place in the Culligan Real Estate tournament. r: • Centennials settle for tie EXETER -- The Exeter Centennials men's soccer team thought they had win number six under their belts but ended up manag- ing only a tie versus Chatham Qty at home on Friday. The 2-2 tie puts Exeter's record at 5-2-3 (wins, loss- es, ties), good for third place in the WOSL First Division. Chatham took a one goal lead at the four minute mark of the first half after capitalizing on Exeter's poor defensive marking. Exeter tied the game at the 30 minute mark of the first half on a goal by Luke Sims from a cross by Chad Gihfillan: -_ , Ten minutes later, Sims buried the ball in Chatham's net from a penal y shot awarded after Peter McAllister was taken down in the penalty area. The score remained 2-1 till six minutes left in the game when Chatham head- ed the ball into the Centennials net while Exeter was "caught sleep- ing," Centennials coach John Rasenberg said. The Cents next travel to London Marconi for a First Division League Cup game on Aug. 11 at 8:30 p.m. Exeter's /text regular sea- son gam is on Aug. 14 at the Latinos. The Centennials next home game is Aug. 20, 8 p.m., versus the Athletics at. Cothinunity Park STRATHROY - A sum- mer downpour wasn't the only thing that made the Exeter Fury men's soccer team feeling all wet at Strathroy on Saturday. A short-handed- Exeter squad was blanked 5-0. The Fury kept the home team outside the box for the first -part of the game with goalkeeper Jeff Sauve seeing little action. Exeter player :Brian Harrigan was injured after colliding with a Strathroy player but returned to action shortly after. • Ryan Hern took over in goal in the second half but with only 10 players the Fury were helpless to stop the Strathroy attack. Huron -Perth AAA Lakers entering its fourth season The Huron-P,enh AAA Lakers organization is celebrating its fourth season of offering elite hockey prggrams for young players in 28 home centres. This season major novice, major atom, minor peewee, major peewee, minor bantam and ma41or bantam will take to the ice starting Aug. 14 in Seaforth. Minor atom and minor novice players are eligible to attend try -outs for their respective major level teams. A minor atom skills camp featuring four ice sessions, two skills and two power skating, will be held Aug. 14 as well. A joint Stratford/Huron-Perth midget team will also be offered -and will be coached by Bob Zimmer. Fifth '99 ace at Ironwood EXETER -- Lloyd Robison made Ironwood Golf Club five tunes lucky on Aug. 3. - - - - • Exeter's Robison stroked a hole -in -one on the fourth hble to mark the club's fifth ace of the season. Robison used a 6 -iron to ace the 131 -yard hole. The " feat was witnessed by Exeter's Guy Giddings. 011ivier notches .second: at rovincial heptathalon Granton's Ayden 011ivier continues to shine once track. - • 011ivier, 16, finished second in the heptathalon at the Ontario Track and Field Association (OTFA) Juvenile/Senior Provincial Outdoors meet at Sarnia's St. Pat's on Aug. 6-8. The heptilon consists of 80 m hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200 m, long jump, javelin and 800 m. 011ivier was -running fourth after three events till the 200 m whichshe placed first. She remained in second atter the 200m till the end of the events.. She also placed second in long jump. 011ivier also competed in the OTFA Bantam, Midget, Junior competition on July 23-25, also. at Sarnia St. Pat's. She placed third out of 36 in the junior (19 and under) 200 m.
