VARNA CORRESPONDENT
VARNA - A successful Daily Vacation Bible School was
held once again in the Brucefleld Church last week with
84 children registered with a total of five classes. The
theme this year was The Great Bibleland Dig.
The preschool class had 19 students with leaders
Stephanie Allan, Kim Preszcator and Kathy Boyce with a
helper Carol Simons. Kingergarten class had 13 students
with leader Lauren Love and helper Lindsay Love.
Grade 1 and 2 had 15 students with leaders Sandra
Wilson and Beth Cooper and Amanda Van Miltenburg
was the helper. Grade 3 and 4 had 24 students with Elly
Van Bergen as leader and her helpers were Darren
Keys. Jan and Sjoukje Steenbeek. Grade 5 and 6 had 14
students with Rev. Doreen Canavan as the leader.
The support staff were Co-ordinator and Secretary -
Treasurer: Lauren Love, Music leader: Ontario Street
Summer Team and Beth Cooper on the piano, Worship
Leaders: Rev. Doreen' Canavan and Elly Van Bergen',
Cookie Break Suppliers: members of the U.C.W.'s from
Brucefeld, Kippen Varna and Goshen Churches who
prepared and served the cookies and refreshments each

morning, Craft Teachers: Caroline Klaver, Linda Keys,
Dianne Peck, Evelyn McClinchey, Ineke Hosper and -
Shirley Hosper. Registration: Joyce Dowson.
The offering collected each morning was presented to
' the Ontario Street Summer Team. It was also shared
with a portion going towards Ontario St, E et and
Brucefield-Kippen and Varna -Goshen Daily Vacation
Bible School.
The Church Service was held at the Stanley Park on
Sunday with special music by the Exeter Community
Band. A potluck lunch and games followed the Service.
Kick the shoe was won by Kim Consitt, Rommert
Steenbeek and Billy Finlay. The Kinderegg Relay was
won by Andrew Laurie's team vs Jon Steenbeek's team.
There was also a water relay where you HI) a bottle with
water using a sponge. The three legged race was won by
Jennifer Keys and Kelly Consitt with a close second by
Cameron Laurie and Jentje Steenbeek. Jentje also won
the ring toss. A candy scramble completed the games.
Thanks goes to Linda Keys and Dianne Peck for their
organization.
Church next Sunday August 15, 22 and 29 will be in
goshen Church at 10:30 a.m.
Congratulations to Dan Rathwell, Andrew and Graham
Laurie who played on the Clinton Bantam Soccer Team.
The team took 'Silver' in the North Hurdn Soccer
Tournament held on July 24. .
On Thursday, August 26 the Varna U.C.W. will be hav-
ing dinner at the Blue Fountain in Clinton followed by a
trip to the Blyth 'Theatre to see `Every Dream' by James
W. Nichol . Tickets are $15 each. Meet at the Varna
Church at 5p.m. Volunteer drivers are needed. Please
speak to Mona Stephenson or Shirley Hill for more infor-
mation.
