for local girl
it was an excitthg day for
Karly Pinder on July 26 as
she aced her first hole In
one at the Ainsdale Golf
and Country Club during
the Junior Girls All -
Ontario tourney.
Pinder, 13, made the
hole in one on the par 3
171 -yard third hole. Using
a seven wood, Pinder said
the strong winds carried
her ball to the let side of
the green where she lost
sight of it. 1t wasn't until
walking past the hole
when she noticed she had
made a hole in one.
Pinder, who will be start-
ing Grade 9 at South
Huron this September,
won a towel and keychain
for her efforts.

Local duo wins golf tourney
EXETER -- A pair of Exeter golfers
brought home the first prize from the
Ontario Junior Juvenile Better Ball tour-
nament just outside Lindsay.
Matt Dietrich and Cam Murray shot a
1 -under 70 on the second hole of a play-
off to win the tournament at the Oliver's
Nest golf course on July 22.
Murray and Dietrich described the
course as tough, saying the wind, long
grass and dryness were a challenge.
Another local connection at the tour-
nament was a hole in one by Mike
Dietrich. Dietrich holed the fifth hole, a
180 -yard par 3, with his 4 iron. The
shot, which marked Dietrich's first ace,
won the South Huron student a dozen
golf balls.
Dietrich and his partner Brendan
Buchanan finished tied for sixth in the
tournament, shooting a 72.
