If you, think that gaining weight would be
bad if you stopped smoking how's this?
You would have to gain 50% of your body
mass to equal the risk to your health of not stopping
smoking!
Blood donation is a very important need in our society. A
healthy person can donate one unit of blood (=450 mi)
every •56 days:. There are screening procedures in place
to assure the safety of the donated blood but the bene-
fits to society are immense. Consider being a blood
donor today.
HCAs (heterocyclic amines) are created when poultry
and other meats are grilled at high temperatures (as on•
a barbeque). If you microwave the chicken for 2-5 min-
utes before grilling, the amount of HCA Is reduced by
90%. HCAs are potentially cancer-causing chemicals.
Speaking of healthy foods, fresh tomatoes are in abun-
dance right noi. It's a} good time to remind you of the
high levels of Lycopene in tomatoes. Lycopene, a power-
ful antioxidant, is purported to reduce heart attack risks.
