al picnic at the park
pavilion on Sunday,
August 1. About 70
people in attendance
and also celebrated Bill
Cook's birthday.
The Wallis family
'reunion was held on
Sunday, .July 25 in
Kirkton. Pictures of
yester-year were
viewed and a ball game
was enjoyed in the
afternoon, followed" by
a potluck supper.
Families were present
from Norval,
Maidstone, Port
Stanley, London,
Kirkton and Granton.
The Bidduiph
Township `150th'
Celebrations committee
met at the township
office on Monday
evening, July 26 to
assess the results of the
barbecue and make
further plans for, next
year.
Clandeboye Women's
Institute members and
friends visited the
Huron Country
Playhouse at Grand
Rend on July 27 to see
the 'Odd Couple.' The
group later enjoyed
supper at MacPherson's
eStaurant in Port
Franks.
Last week's account
of the Granton Fun Day
should have read that
the parade was led up
the Main Street by
Chris Mills and fireman
Moe Watson.
Vacation Bible
School
'We shine for Jesus'
was the theme of this
year's Vacation Bible
School held at the
Granton United Church
during the week of July
26 to 30. About 63 chil-
dren and teenage
helpers enjoyed the
program organized and
led by 16 young people
from the Ontario Street
Suer Team from
Clinton, The morning's
activities - included bible
stories, crafts, sports
and. music.
Assisting with the
activities and supervis-
ing the children were
Tara Westman, Heather
Westman, Sherry
Parrett, Natasha
Orchard, Emily Riddell,
Andrew Bryan, Scott
Hariton, Stephanie
Currah, Scott • Whiting,
Jeff Garrett, Veronica
Blom, Matt McRobert
and Jamie Currah.

Harlton prepared the
snacks provided by var-
ious church .members
and Alma Scott co-ordi-
nated the helpers. The
five-day program ended
with parents and
friends being invited to
a short closing program
when the children sang
a sampling of the songs
they had learned and
presented cards of
thanks to the leaders.
Church news
There was no service
at the Granton United
Church on Sunday as
services for the pas-
toral charge are being
held at Wesley United
Church during August.
Lay Pastor Val Hodgins
entitled the message
`Simple Abundance'
based on the -lesson
from Matthew 14.
St. Paul's Church,
Kirkton will be joining
with St. James Anglican
Church, St. Marys for
services during August
where Canon Michael
Griffin of Stratford will
be officiating.
