at Goderich beach
ZURICH - The residents
at Blue Water Rest Home
have been busy over the
past two weeks with var-
ious activities. The resi-
dents watched a movie
promoting Huron County
produced for the
International Plowing
Match. The video
showed the villages and
town in Huron County,
what each location is
noted for an scenes from
the beautiful country-
side. 'Meet Me In St.
Louis'. was another
movie the residents
enjoyed.
.A video about Amelia
Earhart, 'The .Final
Flight', caught the hearts.
of the residents depicting
her flight in 1937 from
New Guinea to Howland
Island, a 'flight in which
she disappeared, but
proved to be a ground
breaker in aviation. 'A
Portrait, -Forever Hawaii'
was enjoyed on the big
screen.
St. Christopher's
Beach, . Goderich. provid-
ed the residents with -a
gorgeous' day for a pic-
nic.

in the auditorium to dis-
cuss the origins of ice
cream and the making of
their favourite type of
sundaes.
The 1890's ice cream
was invented ,and
became very popular at
the turn of the century to
elevate mood, drive
away depression and
make you feel happier,
Gone fishing was the
theme and the place for
the Men's Group at
Naate's Trout Farm.

the topic for discussion,
on July 21.. -Hemingway
would have celebrated
100 years young on July
21.
He wrote -Many -short
stories and was a novel-
ist, which included the
book "The old Man on
the Sea'. The residents
shared their opinions on
the favourite books they
;mad read and their
favourite authors.
A trip to Goderich ' to
watch the Walt Disney
parade was enjoyed by
the young and not so
young.

Disabled Persons provid-

The residents dined on
muffins, juice, coffee and
fresh fruit provided by
the kitchen staff along
with plenty of ice water.
Mickey, Minnie, Donald,
Daisy, Pluto, Goofy and
the Chipmunks, march-
ing bands, pipe bands,
dancers etc. made up the
Disney Parade and the
residents also watched
the pre -parade.

Gardeners - it's time to get ready for flower show

HENSALL - The Hensall and
District Horticultural Society's
Annual Flower Show will be held,
on August 11 this year. The compe-
tition has opportunities for every
kind of gardener, with classes for
annuals, perennials, containers,
arrangements, vegetables, and a
kid's section. A list of categories
and rules may be picked up at area
locations. Phone 262-2715 or 235-
1459 for more information.
At Hensall United Church, Pirie
Mitchell's message on Sunday was
"True Value". Mark Garlough was
the organist. The greeter was
Veronica Thompson. The offering
was accepted by, Doug Cook and
Garry A l I Irdice. Flowers were in
memo') of Ron Mock given by Kay.
Dennis; and Peg Mock also attended
the service. The church office will
be closed , for the rest of the sum-
mer. Secretary Karen Jolly can be
reached at 262-3207. A service will.
be held on August 1 in the United
Church, after which Pirie will be on
vacation.
Everyone is invited to services in
Hensall Carmel Presbyterian
Church starting at 9:45 a.m.
The Friendship Circle will conduct
a programme at the Blue Water
Rest Home on August 10 at 7:30
p.m. Call Marg Cole before August
8. The group will meet at the
church at 6:30 p.m.
A large crowd attended
Decoration Day at Hensall
Cemetery. Pirie Mitchell was guest
speaker and Mary Lou Dixon was
the guest soloist.
