Appreciation supper or

ZURICH - In spite of all
the other activities going
on over the weekend in
the area such as the
Disney Parade in
Goderich, two weddings,
a bridal shower, and a
95th birthday party, the
Zurich Fair took place as
planned and was quite
successful.
The opening of the fair
and talent show was on
Friday night. The elimi-
nation draw and dance
afterwards had a good
crowd, and the winner of
the $1,000 was Mary -
Lou Erb of Zurich. All
enjoyed beef burgers and
lunch catered by Richard
Erb.
The parade on
Saturday had the theme
"Plowing Toward the
Millennium".
The annual Babies on
Parade saw 12 little ones
taking part, all receiving
certificates and gifts
from local merchants.
There were 12 men
who took part in the
cake decorating demon-
stration.

. A profit of $160 was
made by auctioning off
the cakes. The money
went to the arena
fundraising project.
The highest bid was
$22, on a cake decorated
by John Becker.
The horse show and old
Time Fiddler's Jamboree
held on Sunday saw a
good crowd. It ended
with a buffet supper.
An appreciation. supper
will be held at Hay town-
ship Hall on August 5 .at
6:30 p.m. for all those.'

Members of St.
Boniface K. of C. are sell-
ing elimination draw
tickets for $100, as a
fundraiser for the bell
tower and church loan.
There will be several
chances to win money
and the last ticket drawn
will be worth $10,000.
The draw will be held
on August 8 at the parish
barbecue supper. The
fun begins at 2 p.m.
Dinner tickets cost $6.00.

The Zurich Community
Yard,Sale will be held on
August 14 throughout
the village.
The historical walkway
park at the corner of St.
Joseph has been con-
structed and is ready for
the public.
The Zurich Seniors will
be holding their summer
picnic meal on August 4
at the Community Centre
at 12 noon.

A bridal shower was
held for Cynthia Stark on
July 24 at St. Peter's
Lutheran Church Hall.
She is the daughter of
Dave and Carolyn Stark,
Windsor. Cynthia is to be
married in October to
Mike Castellucci. A fami-
ly get-together was held
afterwards at the home
of an aunt, Donna Thiel.
Carolyn's sister Joanne
was also visiting from
California with her dad
Keith Thiel.
Happy 95th birthday
wishes go to, Meda
O'Brien who had an open
house in her honour at
the Maple Woods
Apartments on Saturday
afternoon.

Lloyd and Edwina Cripps
on the arrival of their
baby boy, Nicholas, who
was born July 22.

Brand were married at
the Zurich Mennonite
Church on July 24. Chad
is the son of Jim •and
Phyllis Ramer, Zurich. A
barbecue supper and
bachelor party was held
for Chad last Wednesday
at the home of Jim
Grainger.
The couple will be liv-
ing in Zurich.

ern Canada are visiting
their mother, Elizabeth

members in the Zurich
area. They attended the
wedding of their nephew

Camlachie and her sister
Sandra. They all enjoyed
the Fiddler's Jamboree
and supper at the arena.

for Dawn McAdams. She
is the fiance of Darren
Alexander, son of Berit
Wallace, Rr #2 Zurich.
The wedding will be in
September.
John and Bridget Groot
Sr. and their son Chris
and Rhonda Groot from
Ottawa spent the past
two weeks in Holland
visiting with'` relatives.
They helped Bridget's
mother celebrate her
94th birthday. They also
visited with daughter
Jeanne and Robin
Timmermans and their
two boys in Holland.
On July 18 the annual
family Ducharme
Reunion was held at the
home of Doug Ducharme.
The men enjoyed playing
horseshoes. A pig roast
was enjoyed by all.
Special visitors last
week with Blanche
Ducharme were sisters
Cecile from Regina,
Olande from Edmonton
and Iucia of Mt. Clemens,
Michigan. They also
attended the reunion.
