The nine members and the subdivision's developer and owner Lina Pittao asked council to reconsider passing the third reading of their zoning bylaw which allows these businesses in residential areas. Pittao, who is not a permanent resident of Grand Bend, also told council she was upset she wasn't told about the new zoning bylaw. She told council when the property existed in Bosanquet, their zoning prohibited B&Bs and NORTH LAMBTON --- Police have been receiving a lot of calls from people who have been victims of thefts from vehicles while at the beach. The OPP would like to remind the public thieves are always on the prowl and an easy target is when people leave valuable property in unattended vehicles. Police advise people to either leave their goods at home or take them onto the beach . with you. 7.1 home occupations from existing in residential areas. In 1991, Merrywood Meadows was annexed by Grand Bend. Mayor Cam Ivey told Pittao their new zoning bylaw doesn't propose any changes to home occupations and B&B zoning and said Bosanquet has 4, similar bylaw allowing home businesses in residential areas. "How do you control a bed and breakfast," said Merrywood Meadows resident Keith Smereka. "We have 100 per cent of us here saying we don't want it but you won't give it to us." • Councillor Bob Man presented a motion that would exclude Merrywood Meadows from having B&B's and busy home occupations like doctor offices. Mann's motion was eventually defeated with only Coun. Shirley Andraza supporting it. "We are talking about the community, not parts of the community," said Ivey after the vote. "We have to look at this as more of a global thing than an isolated thing." Ivey also apologized to Pittao about the lack of notification and told her that issue would be looked in to. Council eventually agreed to delay third reading of_the zoning bylaw until the next council meeting to allow Merrywood Meadows residents time to come up with an alternative plan.
