Marilyn Carter gave greetings at Sunday's church service in Elimville. Zachary Kadey assisted Rev. Carter with the lighting of the Christ Candle. It was a service of hymn singing. Judith Parker gave readings and Bruce Delbridge led in prayer. Elson and Larry Lynn received the offering. The choir sang "Mansion Over the Hilltop" accom- panied by pianist Jean Hodgert. Kay Cunnington gave the closing prayer. The Worship Committee pre- pared and participated in the service. Life and work of the congregation On July 25 the congre- gation are reminded to bring a penny to the ser- vice. Vacation Bible School will be held July 25 with the theme "Under God's Rainbow",,,,,registration will be at 11:30 a.m. Please bring a lunch. The program is for ages four and up. Those under four years of age are welcome if accompa- nied by a parent. Supper will be provided at 5:30 p.m. Please pick up a registration form from the back of the church and give it to anyone you think would be interest- ed. The leaders need four to five -inch glass jars with an . opening big enough for a tea lite to Bt into. From August -8 to September 6 Rev. Carter will. be on vacation and there will be no services. Personals Congratulations to Barry and Shannon Cunnington on the birth of their son Michael Ian on July 14 at St. Joseph's Ijospital, London, weigh- ing 7 lbs. 10 oz. He is a grandson for Kay Cunnington and Mr. and Mrs. Henderson. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family of the late Marian Tanney, who passedraway Wednesday; also to her sister Kay and Ross Hodgert, broth- ers Doug and Marjorie May, Murray and Ombra May. Outdocr services fettire special musical presentations GRAND BEND - Special solos were presented at the Grand Bend United Church outdoor service on July 11 by Stephanie Erb of Zurich accompanied by her mother on the keyboard. She sang "Climbing the Mountain" and "Amazing Grace." A hymn sing led by Lucy Sage and Elva McIntyre preceded the service. Rev. R. Putman spoke on the parables of Jesus, saying when seed falls on good soil it produces in abundance. Scriptures were read by Fred Willert. The annu- al craft and bake sale by the United Church Women will be held August 4 at 11 a.m. Music at Grand Bend United Church's Green Cathedral on July 18 was by the St. Christopher's Choir of' Forest. There were 18 members in the group with their own musical accompaniment of keyboard, guitar, flute and saxophone. Rev. Putman joined in the last numbers with his guitar. The scriptures were read by Marie Strapp. Rev. Putman's sermon was'on wheat and weeds. Fred Willert gave the prayers for the people. Mark Raithy and Howard Maier were the offering collectors. Harry and Gepka Wilson and Frieda Wilson visited recently with Melvin and Gertie Stade and Sherrie .and 011ie Edwards. Harry and Gepka stayed for the weekend and returned home to Ohio. Frieda stayed with her sister and brother -in -taw Gertie and Melvin for 10.. days. She also visited Sherrie.; and 011ie and then returned to' -her home in New Westminster, B.C.
