GRANTON - After many years of research; and recording by Betty Scheiding assisted by Peter Mercy, the history and genealogy of the Langford and Westman families has been published. A book launching was held at the farm of Eric and Donna Westman on Hwy 7, south of Granton on July 11. Elizabeth (Betty) has roots-iiii in Biddulph Township as her mother` Lena Langfordoz0. was born at Lot 27, Concession 5 (now Clarke Sideroad). r Sympathy is extended to the family of Audrey (Foster) Bannerman, for- merly of Granton, who died at Wildwpod Care Centre on July 11. At the 'Granton United Church on Sunday, July 18 Lay Pastor Val Hodgins entitled -her message 'Surely God is in this place'. Soloist Tara Westman sang 'God on High. The children took part in a craft session during the service. On July 25 there will a breakfast from 8 - 9 a.m. and service 10 a.m. in the park with guest Bob Heywood. Rally The 44th Middlesex County Women's Institute Rally was hosted by East Middlesex District at the Bryanston Community Centre on July 13. Evelyn Rath led discus- sion on placing the previ- ' ous Tweedsmuir History books in the local libraries. Audrey McCutcheon introduced the Rally W.I. Scholarship Winner Emily Phillips of Hyde Park and a presentation was made by Willa Johnston, Provincial Advisory council member. An invitationkwas extend- ed by Northwest Middlesex District to host the 2000 Rally on July 13 at Coldstream Community Centre. • Community St. Patrick's sending booklets to mission church By H. She delivered a message based on the scripture readings given by Margaret Carroll. The children's focus was entitled 'Following IWJesus Way." Each of the children are working on a booklet of Bible stories studied throughout the year. When they're completed, the booklets will be sent along with the bale to the Prayer Partner for the children at a Northern Ontario mission church. The next service will be held Saturday at 7 p.m•. to celebrate Evening Prayer. Starr Davis was an overnight vis- itor with friend Ashley Walzak of Lucan who was celebrating her birthday. Ralph, Joyce and Darren Simpson were recent visitors with Hugh and Hazel Davis. The Davis's returned home from a visit with cousins Peggy and Bill Kerby at their summer home in Petoskey, Michigan, along with'. their daughter Nancy Taylor and Ty William who were visiting from Franklin, Texas.
