Time to register children
for summer Bible school

THAMES ROAD - Some
50 women and children
attended the bridal show-
er for Lisa Kernick, bride -
elect of July on Monday
evening in Thames Road
Church. The basement
was decorated with white,
pink and rose balloons,
mini lights and pots of
fern.
Jean Hodgert played
"Perhaps Love" on the
piano for Erin
Richardson to escort Lisa
to her decorated chair.
June Stewart welcomed
everyosg,
Rachel,, Tyler and
Sarah Van Allen did
some clogging and step
dancing. A humorous
skit took place with
Margaret Stewart play-
ing the part of Lisa the
bride; Margaret
McCarter the part of
Tom the groom, Lorraine
Alexander the part of Joe
Turford, Ferne Stewart
the part of Nathan Allen,
and June Stewart the
part of Aaron Gardiner.
June Stewart gave an
address and Katrina and
Carrington Lauzon and
Rachel and Sarah Van
Allen carried the guts to
the bride. Lisa thanked
the women who hosted
the shower, for the many
gifts and invited every-
one to her reception in
Hensall in July. All joined
in singing "For She's .A
Jolly Good Fellow"..A
lunch -of desserts and
beverage was.served.
Church service
The regular church
service was held on
Sunday morning at
Elimville with the Rev.
Marilyn Carter in .charge.
She lit the Christ Candle
with the help of Zachary
Kadey, and she told the
children's story "Forgive
Us".
The choir sang an
anthem accompanied by
pianist Jean Hodgert.
Bruce Delbridge read
the scriptures. The title
of Rev. Carter's sermon
was "Rebeccas and
Peacemakers". Sharon
Lynn read a Minute for
Missions "Welcome to
Canada". Bruce
Delbridge and John
Miner received the offer-
ing and Delbridge was

Vacation Bible School

the theme "Under God's
Rainbow". Registration
will be at 11:30 a.m.
Please bring a lunch. The
program is for ages four
• and up. Those under
four years of age are
welcome if accompanied
by a parent.
Supper will be provided
at . 5:30 p.m. Please pick
upa registration form
from the back of the
church and give it to
anyone you think would
be interested. The lead-
ers need four to five inch
glass jars with an open-
ing big enough for a tea
lite to fit into.

Appreciation luncheon
The Break Time for Mom's support group in Crediton held an appreciation lun-
cheon for its volunteers last Tuesday, also marking the support group's last meet-
ing until September.The group meets Tuesday mornings and works to support
stay-at-home moms. Enjoying the snacks and tea were, from left, volunteers

HAY TWP. -- Police are
investigating a theft from
a car port on Hwy: 21
north of Hwy. 83. A rid-
ing lawn mower and gas

police found the=bicycle

Towing was a victim of a
break and enter during

Thieves knocked a hole
through cement blocks to

defect happens in the first two -weeks of pregnancy so_
be sure to start taking extra folic acid at least four
weeks before becoming pregnant. •
A good predictor of heart disease risk comes from the
prairies where a doctor studied over ten thousand men
and women. Results? The greater the girth, the greater
the risk. A waist size over 40" had double the risk of
hypertension and diabetes. Those with waist sizes
between 36 and 40 inches had considerable risk.
