James Earl Keller will
be installed as pastor
of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church in New
Hamburg on July 11 at
4 p.m. Son of Ken and
Shirley Keller, Exeter,

attended Concordia
Lutheran Seminary in
St. Catharines. He was
ordained June 6 at
Zion Lutheran Church
in Dashwood with Dr.
John Stevenson of
Concordia officiating.
Among those taking

Michigan who 'baptized
Jim at Dashwood, and
Rev. Marvin Barz of
Junction City, Kansas,
who confirmed Jim at
Goderich. Many rela-
tives and nd friends
attended the service,
among them Frieda
Keller, Jim's 91 -year-
old grandmother from
• Dashwood. Jim and
his wife, the former
Heather Lindsay of
Goderich; established
Zurich Pharmacy in
1991.E

SEAFORT}1 -- The tal-
ents of one -Avon Maitland
District School Board
teacher won't be revealed
on tests for teachers pro-
posed by the provincial
government.
Lois Burdett, a primary
teacher at Hamlet Public
School in Stratford,
received the Fred L.
Bartlett Memorial Award.
The award is sponsored
by the Ontario "Public
School Boards Association
and honours teachers for
their outstanding, contri-
bution toleducation.
Burdett has introduced
several children to
Shakespearean iflays
which they perform. She
has also written books,
magazine articles and
appeared in television
interviews about intro-
ducing the plays to prima-
ry students.
Last Tuesday night int
Seaforth, she was pre-
sented the award at the
'-regula' meeting of the
Avon Maitland District
School Board. During the
presentation, students
from her class performed
a scene from Midsummer
Night's Dream.
"I don't think the magic
we've seen today can be
tested by Mr. Harris,"
said Chairperson Wendy
Anderson, referring to
Premier Mike Harris.
Burdett was nominated
for the award by the
trustees and senior staff
of the board.

Graduation ceremonies
at Prince Andrew School

GRANTON - Prince Andrew gradu-
ation ceremonies were held at the
school on Monday evening, June 28 .
Granton area students were among
the Grade 8 graduates including
Steven Aldrich, Nathaniel Barr,
Andrew Bryan, Jamie Currah, Craig
Eeley, Jeff Garrett, Jason Hack, Scott
Harlton, Nathan LeFaivre, Matt
McRobert, Natasha Orchard, Scott
Riddell, Tyler Riddell, Kurtis
Shearme and Matt Westman.
Special awards were won as fol-
lows: Valedictorian - Nathaniel Barr,
Boys Athletic - Craig Eeley,
Canadian Foresters Mathematics -
Nathaniel Barr, Citizenship - Steven
Aldrich, French - Natasha Orchard,
Geography - Scott Riddell, Morley
Award - Andrew Bryans, Mowbry
Award - Natasha Orchard and Most
Improved Student - Ryan Steward.
The Thames Valley District School
Board presented the Tom R.
Williamson award to Steven Aldrich
for positive contribution to the gen-
eral life of Prince Andrew Public
School. Williamson gave this first
time award in memory of his son.
Steven also was honoured to receive
the Principal's Award. Steven is the
son of Susan and Randy Aldrich and
grandson of Lillus Riddell.
Canadian Food Grains
On Sunday, July 4 Granton United
Church sponsored a combined
Canadian Food Grains service in the
park pavilion with Wesley United, St.
Patrick's Church' near Lucan and
others from Humber Valley in ittten
▪ dance. Lay Pastor Val Hodgins, led
the service and the guest speaker
was well-known radio broadcaster
•Fet.er Garland -who message was
about hope. He cited numerous inci-
dents where hopeless situations
were changed because someone had
hope. ."Never give up hope,"
Garland concluded. The choir sang
'The Church in the Wildwood.' Guest
violinists were Shane and Kyle Cook
of Dorchester.
Leroy Bryan gave information
about this year's Food Grains
Project. After three years of soy-
beans this years crop is corn and it
is doing quite well due to favourable
weather conditions. Leroy also -intro-
duced the Ontario Food Grains Co-
ordinator David Maberry who pro-
vided general information on the
project for Ontario.``?- -'
The service was followed by a beef ' .
barbecue and a musical program
with more violin music by Shane and': '., -
Kyle Cook. Shane recently won the
Grand Champion Trophy at the
annual National Oldtime Fiddlers'
Contest in Weiser, Idaho and became
Ontario, Alberta and Canadian duet
Grand Champion with his brother
Kyle. Tiffany Fewster of Woodstock
also entertained with . stepdancing.
She recently won the Canadian
Stepdancing Championship in the 18
and under category. Over 200 people
enjoyed the special occasion.
On Tuesday, June. 29_ a ..meeting
was held at the Granton United
Church to make further plans for the
Vacation Bible School. Youth co-
ordinators from Goderich will be
assisting with the program. For fur-
