Zurich area gears up for annual sumrner fair

ZURICH - Members of
the Zurich Chamber of
Commerce and their
spouses held a get-togeth-
er at Hessenland recently.
A Fair board meeting
will be held tonight,
Wednesday, at the Hay
Township Hall at 8 p.m.
The Zurich Fair will be
held July 23-25. The
`Babies on Parade' show
will be held at the
Community Centre on
Saturday afternoon, July
24. Registration is before 2
p.m. All babies up to one
year old are welcome.
This is not a competition,
just a lot of fun. All babies
are winners and there will
be lots of door prizes.
Each entrant will receive a
toonie from the Fair
Board.
Entertainment will begin
in the auditorium at 1:30
p.m. and a cake decorat-
ing contest and auction
sale will be held along
with the baby show.
The Zurich Fair parade
Wth begin July 24 at 11:30
p4ir. at 'the public school.
The theme is "Plowing
Toward the Millennium".

mini tractor pull in the
arena for children at 3
p.m.; and arm wrestling
for adults at 3:30 p.m. On

Ten members . of the
M.Y.F. Group of the
Mennonite Church and
their six sponsors spent
the weekend camping at
Cypress Lake near
Tobermory.
The Brokenshire House
Bed and Breakfast of
Rosalie Street in Zurich is
now open.
Parents, friends and rel-
atives are invited to the
Vacation Bible School pro-
gram at the Mennonite
Church on July 9 at 7:30
p.m. Children of the com-
munity and their leaders
will be demonstrating
what they learned during
the week.
The Zurich Library will
be having a summer read -
Ing program on Thursdays
from July 8 to August 19
from 1 to 2 p.m. each

The outdoor musical
pageant "The Promise" in
Forest runs July 9, 10 and
11. Take your lawn chairs.
The gates open at. 7:30
p.m. and the` show begins
at 8:30 p.m.

Yard Sale will be.heid
August 14.

Club and their guests
enjoyed a social evening
and supper at the home of
Richard and Mary Erb on
June 30.

induct Paul Dickert as a
new member. This was
the last meeting until
September.
Elimination draw tickets
are available for the
Zurich Fair on July 23.
They cost $10 each and
can be obtained from
Lions Club members.

sary party was held for
Peter and Elaine Groot,
Hensall on Saturday at the
home of his brother John
and Elze Groot Jr. of RR
#3 Zurich. An outdoor cel-
ebration was held under
two tents with a smorgas-
bord supper. The couple's
actual date was July 6.
