"mss -a` '-`s ,, v* SHIPKA - The 37th annual Ratz reunion was held June 13 at Shipka Community Centre. Relatives attended from Dashwood, Exeter, London, Parkhill and Shipka area. The presiding committee was presi- dent Harvey Ratz, secretary -treasurer, Eleanor Sharpe; and sports were con- ducted by Mary Margaret Thompson and Nancy Jean Finch. A sports program was enjoyed fol- lowed by supper. It was decided to discontinue the Ratz reunion so there won't be a reunion next year. Congratulations to Alan ands. Carol Turnbull on their 50th wedding anniversary. They celebrated at an open house on June 19 at the Legion. A number from this area took part in the Senior Games held recently in St. Marys. Harold and Doreen Finkbeiner cele- brated their 54th wedding anniversary this month with a. bus trip to see the . .o.tler Bros. In Wheeling, West Virginia. Hugh and Annie Morenz were Sunday dinner guests recently with their niece and nephew, Connie and Bob Chaffe at \4itchell. ` '''e' Ken and Marg Baker spent Father's Oay. at the home of Elliott and Kay Clarke in Grand Bend where they had • their annual Lawson family reunion. Relatives came from St. Marys, Atwood, Mitchell and Toronto. A number from this area attended the Open House 45th wedding anniversary for Maurice and Mary.' Lou Desjardine of Huron Park, held June 19 at Corbett Community Centre. The theme is "The Great Bibleland Dig, Exploring the Life of Jesus". Registration is $5 per child and they must bt minimum of age 4 by Dec. 31,1999. Please register before Sunday, June 27,1999. Several vow women from the congre- gation joined the choir for this special occasion including June Essery, Lois Wilson, Aldeen Skinner, Gladys Buswell, Judy Mills, Marian Deline, Kay. Tripp, Iva Blair, and Dorothy Rollings. During the worship, the women sang the anthems 'Precious. Lord, Take My hand' and 'Family of God.' Minister Heather Scdtt led the worship which included the celebration of Communion. Upcoming events Donations for the Food Bank would be appreci- ated on July 4. Zion West and Centralia United Church will combine services for the month of July. Worship will be held at 10 a.m. at Centralia on July 4. It will be held at Zion on July 18. Camp Menesetung would appreciate dona- tions o.f cookies. Please bring teem to the church on June 27 and mark the day they were baked. Centralia United Church is organizing the annual beef barbecue for July 25. Euchre result High score winners in the euchre games at Larry's Restaurant in Crediton recently were Kay Blair and Betty Coates. Dorothy Lauson and 011ie Essery were the lone hand winners. The low score winners for the day were Edith Eaton and Peter Fevery. The Council and Staff of the Township of McGillivray would like to p express their sincere appreciation to all p those who came forth in any way - supportive comments, food, etc. - throughout the cleanup of our -spill.
