Marilyn Carter was in charge of the Fourth Sunday after Pentecost church service on Sunday morning at Elimville. She gave a reading entitled "A Thought for Father's Day". Brett Warwick lit the Christ . Candle with the help of Rev. Carter. She told the cl tldren a story about Noah's Ark. The choir sang "He's Only a Prayer Away" accompanied by the pianist Marilyn Vandenbussche. Margaret Stewart read scriptures. The title of Rev. Carter's sermon was "What if..." Pat Ballantyne and Helen Weston received the offering and were the greeters. At the recent strawber- ry supper, 694 people plus preschool children were fed. Announcements There will be a ques- • tionnaire distributed by the Building Review Committee on June 27. It is to obtain input into the direction the congrega- tion would like to proceed in regards to the church bum. Stuffed animals are needed' at Thames Road Church for Celebration Sunday, Jtme 27 to bela, "the Noah's Ark celebra- Cion: (lease drop them off at the church by June 24. The service is entitled "Moo, Meow and Oink". Everyone is to bring a blown white balloon. A potluck lunch will follow the service. Bring your • own dishes and refresh- ments will be supplied. Zurich takes bronze at Senior Games ZURICH - Zurich Senior Diners met on June 16 with an attendance of 34, with guests from Ayton, Seaforth and North Carolina. The 50/50 draw .was won by Glena Horner and two draws for I .Y O.P. col- lector envelopes and stamps for 1999 were won by Theresa Regier and Ina Russell. Following dinner, Marg Hayter read a Father's Day poem entitled "My Father When". She announced that the Zurich Seniors won the bronze trophy at the senior games in St. Marys on June 14 and 15. The Otterbeins and Horsts of the Zurich Connections and Paul Horst from North Carolina entertained with music and songs. There will be no Diners at noon on June 23 as the town picnic will'start at 3:30 p.m. with supper at 5 p.m. Alter hatch there will be a ball game at the diamond. Pennies and Canadian Tire money will be col- lected on June 27. July 18 will be Hymn Sing Sunday. Vacation Bible School will be held on July 25, a one day event. On September 7, the U.C.W. will be going to the Blyth Festival to see "Death of the Hired Hand." the play begins at 8 p.m. and optional sup- per plans are being made. This will replace the reg- ular U.C.W. September meeting. If you are inter- ested, contact Sharon Passmore, Leona Cottle, Ferne Stewart, Sharon Lynn and Grace Pym. Personals Happy birthday wishes are extended to Lavona Delbridge, Ronald Elford, Dorothy Duncan and Nancy Hodgert on June 20; and Tom Passmore on June 23. Get well wishes are extended to Earl Stephen who was a patient in St. Marys Memorial Hospital and to Lorne Elford who is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. Surprise anniversary celebration Rick and Judith Parker returned home on Saturday afternoon to find their lawn graced with a huge tent complete with balloons, lights and picnic tables. The sur- prise party was in honour of their 25th wedding anniversary. A buffet was served to the 150 guests attending from Bayfield, Waterloo, St. Thomas and the sur- rounding area. Family and friends spent the evening mingling and reminiscing. The couple also cele- brated with their chil- dren, parents, brothers and sisters at a dinner party at Millington's In Brucefield on June 1. Following the meal, they enjoyed an evening at Marvin and Cindy Taylor's Hensall. Dave and Sharon Passmore entertained for Father's Day, John and Ola Batten, Ken and Helen Kadey and Zachary, Ralph and Cathy Batten, Jason and Jeremy, and Tom and Jon Passmore.
