We sat beside your bedside, Our hearts were crushed and sore, We prayed to God to spare you, Till we could do no more, You suffered much in silence, Your spirit did not bend, You faced pain with courage, Until the bitter end. God saw you getting tired, When a cure was not to be, He wrapped his loving arms around you, And whispered "Come to Me" In tears we watched you dying, And watched you fade away, And though our hearts were breaking, We knew you could not stay.
