The Fox Cain Club
The light standards at Exeter Community Park's soc-
cer pitch were erected last week.Teams should start
playing under the lights within a couple of weeks and
an official field lighting ceremony is planned for later
this month. Exeter Centennial Soccer Club president
George McEwan said the club is $7,000-$10,000
short of its $45,000 fund-raising goal to pay for the
project. He is confident the extra funds will be found.
"It's just knocking on a couple more doors," McEwan
said. South Huron District High School teacher Terry
O'Rourke hopes to piggy -back on the Community
Park lighting project to improve the high school field.
O'Rourke said the Avon Maitland District School
Board is putting $7,000 towards field adding if minor
soccer, the school board and the town co-operate, all
fields in the town could be improved.Towards that
end, a turf specialist has been brought in to create a
long-term maintenance schedule for all town fields.
