Times Advocate, 1999-06-09, Page 1616 Exeter Times -Adrenal* Community Wednesday, June 9, 1999 Remembering Lawrence Wayne Cole and his grandmother Marge Cole break the earth for a memorial tree planting outside Hensall Arena for Wayne's brother and Marge's grandson Lawrence Cole who died in a car accident on Feb. 21,1999. Lawrence's friend Chris Wilhelm also died in the accident. Lawrence was a well liked and respected referee/linesman for mina•, junior and senior hockey across the region:The tree planting was sponsored by Hensall Minor Hockey/Hensall Sr.A Sherwoods, the Red Maple was donated by John Groot, Stratford Memorials donated the stone plaque and Reid Sand and Gravel donated their equipment and time for the dig. Davis SAINTS➢L18Y.cO RRES PON D EN T SAINTSBURY - St. Patrick's congregation, relatives, friends and for- mer members got togeth- er to celebrate the 139th anniversary of the Parish on June 6 at 10:30 a.m. with Ron and Margaret Carroll greeting. The Rev. Stanley Jay was officient for the Holy Eucharist assisted by Liz Jay and Suzanne Davis reading the scriptures and Bob MacGillivray leading in the prayers for the people. The children's focus and message were based on the readings entitled "Roots of Our Faith". Heather MacGillivray and her father Hugh Davis favoured with musical selections. Courtney MacGillivray was server and cross bearer for the service. Potted flowers and memorial flowers graced the church and sanctuary in loving memory , of Eileen and Harry Carroll, given by Ron and Margaret Carroll and family; and in loving memory of Mary and Heber Davis, given by Hugh and Hazel Davis and family. Doris Mullins, organist of St. Patrick's 60 years ago, was guest of Ron and Margaret Carroll, along with Ruthanne Phillips, Edythe Mugford, Gladys Davis and Art and Marion Abbott. Also youngest member of St. Patrick's Adam Van Shaick, infant son of Kevin and LV,, who was born May 1 )99 was. in attendance. St. Patrick's Sunday School children pledged $50 to the Miracle Children's Network Telethon on Saturday evening. Caleb MacGillivray and Starr Davis both had heart operations at the Children's Hospital as small children. During the children's time, gifts for the Huron County Children's Aid of sleeping bags, new or cleaned, life jackets, sun- screen, insect repellant and sun or ball hats for children 8-12 years of age, were collected by the children to assist with their summer camp playground. Scriptures were read by Debra Gill. Choir anthem "Come unto me" was a Bouncy fun Alycia Fyvie and Robin Hammond bounce around the obstacle course during Friday's Fun Day/Carnival at Usborne Central School.The after school festivities included a dunk tank, a scavenger hunt, penny and loonie tables, nature tours, lots of fun and games and a barbecue.The money raised will go to new school equipment. Dennis and Kathy Johnson of Owen Sound called on the Davis's on Friday. Corbin MacGillivray was an overnight visitor with friend Mitch Hulley of Clandeboye. Harley Davis was a weekend visitor - with friend Sean Westlake of Kirkton. Doris Spriet of London called on the Davis' Sunday afternoon.
