Crokinole Club members return with a first and a second byloan Beierling VARNA CORRESPONDENT VARNA - The Stan Lee Club met on June 2 in the Complex. Charles and Bernice Reid opened the meet- ing With their usual bits of humor. Minutes were read 'by Anna Keys. The Ontario Seniors Games are being held in St. Marys. On June 14, Elmer and Norene Hayter will play euchre. On June 15 Gladys Peck and Anna Keys will play shuffleboard. Margaret Reid and Grace McClinchey will play cribbage. Ivan McClymont had attended an organizational meeting for the Games. He purchased the participants cards. Floyd McAsh encouraged some mind concentration with his reading, "Candidates A B or C". Everyone was sorry to hear Bob Peck and Jean Armstrong were both in the hospital. It was decided to begin the Stan Lee Club's fall activi- ties with a pot luck supper on Wed. Sept. 8 at the com- plex at 6 p.m. Everyone was encouraged to also tell others of this event. Euchre was played. Lunch was served. Church was in Varna on Sunday with Rev. Mary -Jane Hobden from Calvin -Brick in Belgrave. Elly Van Bergen and her exchanged pulpits so Van Bergen can share in the Anniversary Service in Belgrave. The Sunday School Children served hot dogs , drinks and squares following the Church Service. Sunday, June 13 the Sunday School will go to Bannockburn during church time .to find clues to the Lord's Prayer and piecing them together. Bob Heywood will lead in worship in Varna. It is Decoration Day at Baird's Cemetery at 2 p.m, Don't forget the Varna pork barbecue Wednesday, June 16 from 4:30 - 7 pm. Get your tickets early! The set up for the BBQ is June 15 at 7 p.m. Boxes for take outs and well labeled plastic water pitchers are need- ed. ' Sunday, June 20 Rev Radii Urbaslk-may will lead in worship at Goshen. Sunday, June 27 will be Goshen Adversary with guests. Peter and Sharon Snell and also Sunday school awards will be presented. Wednesday, June 30 the Teens and Trends and their friends will be going to Canada's Wonderland . Permission slips are a must. June 15is the deadline for group rate tickets to be ordered so please let Van Bergen or Doreen know. Goshen U.C.W. meet June 17 at 8pm. The Ploughing Match choir meets Wednesday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Northside United. Church at Seaforth. Happy belated birthday to Genelle Reid and Mona Stephenson and Happy Birthday to Helen Taylor on June 9. The Varna U.C.W. met Thursday evening. President Deb Rathwell opened the meeting with a Reading "Do It Anyway". Carol Simons read the correspondence. A donation will be sent to the Children of Chernobyl. Deb thanked everyone whom baked pies for the spaghetti supper and those who helped at the Wollaston wed- ding. The Five Alive Service was a success on Sunday, May 30 in Brucefield. The offering went to Camp Menesetung. A donation is also, given to Vacation Bible School and they will continue with the cookie break. Sharon Chaster and Marg Stirling were in charge of the progaram. Chuter read a reading on "God's Blessings" followed by the Scripture Reading. After the barbe- cue, there will be a process through which every- one will share his/her responses to the key ques- tions. It is out of these responses that a new mis- sion statement for the congregation will emerge. It is also anticipated that this will lead to changes in the church board structure. Some members from the Varna Crokinole Club attended the first World Crokinole Championship held in Tavistock on Saturday.
