Plan have just received
good news. A panel of
independent actuaries
has confirmed what the
last report of the CPP
Chief Actuary said — that
the Canada Pension Plan
is financially sound.
The panel confirmed
that the actuarial report
was prepared according
to professional standards
and the assumptions used
were within acceptable
ranges.
And both reports con-
firm that a contribution
rate of 9.9 per cent,
shared equally between
employers and employ-
• ees, should be sufficient
to sustain the CPP for
generations to come.
That means the changes
made to the CPP in 1998
have put the Plan on the
right track — they have
made the CPP financially
sustainable and made it
fairer and more afford-
able for future genera-
tions of Canadians.

The fourth annual March for Jesus topic Oar.* in
Exeter on Saturday with about 250 participants. Co-
ordinator Harold DeVries said he is happy with how
the march went, which saw the participants start at
the Emmanuel Baptist Church at 1:30 p.m., head
down Huron St:to Main Street, where they walked
up toVictoria and followed Andrew down to
MacNaughton Park.The group also paused at the
Exeter municipal office to say a small prayer for gov-
ernments.

Contracts awarded

SEAFORTH — Last Tuesday night in Seaforth, the
Avon Maitland District School Boardapproved five
roofing contracts and one for school alterations.
Listowel Central Public School and Listowel District
Secondary School will both have re -roofing work com-
pleted. Wm. Green Roofing limited was awarded the
$56,362 contract at Listowel Central while Cdiestoga
Roofing and ,Sheet
Metal Limited will do
the work at the sec-
ondary school. 1 1an
Smith Peat Roofing *retooling
and Sheet Metal •
Limited will re -roof Seaforth District High School for
$144,100.
The company will atso complete re -roofing at
Blything Public School at a cost of $106,350 and at
Clinton Public School at a cost of $68,600.
Alterations to accommodate Tech 21 at Stratford
Central Secondary School will be completed by Trustco
Construction and Renovation Ltd. for $384,130.
