The money was raised from bar profits during a Canada 2001 Summer Games fund-raising event at Gables on May 7. The event which was sponsored by the Oakwood Inn, Gables and the Lambton County Health Unit raised $20,850 altogether. From (1-r) commitee members: Hank Krech,^ Dave Scatchard . and Cam Ivey. The committee has already reached $215,000 towards their goal of $500,000. Members of Zurich's Has Beans Old -Timer hock- ey team presented Zurich's arena renovation fund-raising committee with a cheque for $5,000 (over three years) last Wednesday. The - first brick church was built on -the present site in :1866 and the cornerstone of the present building was laid in 1896.
