Wednesday, May 26, 1999 Exeter Times -Advocate 37 Announcements Girl Power! Building healthy relationships. On May 20, a Healthy Relationships Workshop was conducted at McCurdy Public School for 16 senior girls. The workshop, organized by Women's Shelter and Counselling Services of Huron, worked on building communication and relationship skills and self-esteem. Communion was also celebrated. The four youths being confirmed also took part in the service. Ryan Keys read the Call to. Warship. Darren keys read the Commendation Proverbs 3:5,6.' 'This was followed with the Confirmation :of Leanne Stephenson,. Danny Peck, Darren Keys and Ryan Keys. They were each present- ed with the New Adventure Study Bible, the New International Version and a keepsake "Remember Your Confirmation" booklet as momentoes of the day. Leanne Stephenson read scriptures. people catVarna Chih this week are May 27 the Tyke II team at 7 p.m.; June 2 the Squirt Girls on the North Diamond; June 3 the Mite Girls play at 7p.m. on the South Diamond . Come on out and cheer these teams on. Communion was then served followed by the Commissioning by Danny Peck. May 30 is Conference, Sunday. Church will be in Brucefield with a Five Alive Service with Rev. Cheri Dinovo at 11 a.m. There will be a pot luck lunch to follow. Please bring sandwich- es . and dessert. Relishes and drinks will be sup- plied. Special music will be presented by Tenor James Dundass from London. The offering will go to the London Conference Ziquala Water Project. On May 31 there will' be a Church Board Meeting at Gosbien Church at 8 p.m. Sunday School volun- teers are needed. Please contact Lori Merner if you can help. Sunday June 6 the Sunday School will sell hot dogs and drinks after Church as a Fundraiser. Sunday June 13 there will be a Bannockburn Hike during Church time finding the clues to the. The event began in England and the concept has spread around the globe. On even num- bered years, the march is a world-wide event. The music for this year's event includes some familiar pieces and new songs reflecting Ca- nadian heritage in- cluding Native songs. People have been learn- ing the new songs during praise evenings and DeV- ries said there is one more praise evening to- night at 7:30 p.m. at Em- manuel Baptist Church in Exeter to rehearse the songs. Last year, 275 people participated in the March for Jesus ''and DeVries hopes for even more this year. The at- tendance has been con- sistent throughout the years, DeVries said. The walk with follow Huron St. to Main, follow Victoria to Andrew and end at MacNaughton Park. it will pause at the Exeter municipal office where a short prayer will be said for all levels of government. There will be a short time of celebration at MacNaughton Park fol- lowing the walk with a live musical group, sing- ing and prayer. March for Jesus events will also take place in Stratford, Goderich and London. DeVries is looking for- ward to next year's event which will celebrate Je- sus' 2,000th birthday. Anyone interested in participating should meet at the Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with the walk starting at 1:30.
