The band performed at 8:30 a.m. and played as if they were all wide awake. An excellent performance was rendered and the band received a Silver. Award. As part ..of the competi- tion the band participates in a sight reading session. The band has worked very hard to improve this skill and they received a Gold rating in this section of the B400 Class. The conductor of the senior band, Bob Robilliard, was very impressed with the per-- formanc,e of the band. 'This band has improved by at' least 50 per cent since October. They play with great sensitivity and provide . a great deal of excitement in their musi- cal performance. The Honour Award for the Senior Concert Band was presented to Dave Robilliard, the percussion section leader. This award recognizes his excellent musical work for the band. On May 20 Dave Robilliard competed' for the Concert Band/Orchestra Scholarships. He audi- tioned for the Zildjian Outstanding Percussionist Award. He was one of three per- cussionists who were cho- sen through audition tapes to compete for this award. He played very ' well and is awaiting word of his results. • On May 21 the Senior Jazz Band competed in their class at York Univftity. They played with good musicality, great energy and sensitivi- ty in the ballad. Bob Robilliard said this'jazz band gave the best performance of any jazz band he has taken to the Nationals. The Honour Award for the Senior Jazz Band was presented to Romphf. The final instrumental concert of the school year is May 30 at 2 p.m. in the SHDHS large gym. This concert is the graduation, concert for many stu- dents.
