Baptismal service Field atThames Road

1 HAMES ROAD CORRESPONDENT
THAMES ROAD - Rev. Marilyn Carter was in charge of
the Pentecost Sunday church service on Sunday at
Elimville. Rev. Carter gave the welcome, announce-
ments, and led in the Call to Worship.
Barry Miller chairperson of the Outreach Committee
called Virginia Lee Warwick, Kenneth Richard Kadey
and Robert Edward Varley and presented them to Rev.
Carter for Baptism and Confirmation. Anne Kernick,
member of the Christian Education Committee present-
ed the three people with a Bible.
Judith Parker member of the Outreach Committee
presented the three with a certificate.
Rev. Carter lit the Christ Candle with the help of
Evelyn Johns.
The minister told the youth a story, "Happy Birthday
Church."
The choir sang "Wind Who Makes All Winds That
Blow" accompanied by the pianist Marilyn
Vandenbussche.
The Responsive reading was Psalm 104. Gerald
Cunnington read the scripture.
The title of the minister's sermon was "Stewardship of
Presence."
The offering was received by Janis Richardson and her
daughter Erin and they were also the greeters.
Judith Parker chairperson of Worship Committee read
the invitation to Communion.
Judith and Megan Parker, Kay Cunnington and Bruce
carried the elements to the front of the church.
Judith, Kay and Bruce passed communion.
The flowers in the church were in memory of the late
Phil Johns by Marjorie and her family.
Coming events
May 30, the Community of Rural Churches are holding
a service of worship, song and fellowship at Thames
Road U.C. beginning at 10:30 a.m. The guest speaker
will be Gary Alan Price, with proceeds going to Jessie's
Journey.
June 2 - council meeting at Elimville at 7 p.m.
June 4, Friday - Sunbeams will meet to go swimming
at Kick's Pool, Exeter. ,at 9:30 a.m. and at 10:30 a.m.
they will go to the home of Kim Rush for snacks and fel-
lowship. Bring a toonie. Note: change of date.
Don't forget the Strawberry and Haxn Supper on June
13.

of their brother-in-law the late Riney Keller of Exeter on
Monday who passed away Saturday at South Huron
