Review of amalgamation
progress at Avon Maand
District School Bo
SEAFORTH - As part of
a process being conduct-
ed at every district
school board across the
province, a review team
from the Education
Improvement
Commission will visit the
Board's Administrative
Office in Seaforth on May
26 and 27 to meet with
trustees, students, staff
and representatives of
school councils and
stakeholder groups to
review progress made
towards amalgamation.
The review team will
be led by Commissioner
Arlene Wright, and
includes senior members
of the EIC staff.
The public is welcome
to attend the opening
session, which will be
held in the
Administrative Office on
May 26 frpm 9.to 10 a.m..
1 the review ,team will
then meet separately
over the following day
and a half in hour-long
sessions with board offi-
cials and with represen-
tatives from various
stakeholder croups iden-
tified by the EIC.
The review team will
provide a series of ques-
o itioiis ahead of time
virhioh are 'intended to
determine progress
made towards amalga-
mating various aspects
of school board opera-
tions ,such as transporta-
tion, accounting, collec-
tive agreements, operat-
ing procedures, commu-
nications, etc. and will
search out exemplary
practices. '
A report of the review
will be issued at a time
still to be determined
and the final report of
the EIC covering all dis-
trict school boards in the

Peggy Clarke celebrates 90th birthday

SHIPKA - More than
100 family relatives and
friends attended a memo-
rable 90th birthday party
for Peggy Clarke of
Pickering, formerly of
London on May 23. It was
held at "Koinambekum",
the R.R. 2 Dashwood
farm of her daughter,
Elinor, wife of Fred
Clarke.
Clarke is the grand-
mother of Susan Mauer,
wife of Jack Mauer of
Jack's Plumbing and
Heating, Exeter; Pamela
Brand, wife of Ron Brand
of N.J.B. Plumbing and
Heating, Exeter and
Matthew Clarke and wife
Janet of Exeter Chrysler
Jeep Eagle.
Grandchildren are
Geoff, Tim and Andrew
Mauer; Kyle and Emily
Brand and Amanda,
Shannon, Stephen and
Michael Clarke all of
Exeter. Her eldest grand-
son Geoff took her for a
plane ride over the coun-
tryside to greet her
friends from the air. The
evening ended with fire-
works. Family and friends
travelled from the Ottawa
area, son Allan Clarke,
daughter Betty Bell and
their spouses and fami-
lies; daughter Judy and
family from Pickering;
daughter Penny and fam-
ily from Hamilton and
nieces, nephews and
friends from Minden,
Whitby and London. Both
her sisters, Phyl Fisher of
Pickering and Marion
Moore of London attend-
ed. Best wishes came
from Santiago, Chile:
Durban, South Africa;
England, California,
Australia and New
Zealand.
=This world traveller at
the age of 90 has added
writing to her list of
accomplishmfpnts. Her
recently published mem-
oirs, "With a song in .My
Heart" is a big seller.
Also on Sunday, a spe-
cial service was held at
St. John's by the Lake
Anglican Church in Grand
Bend at which Peggy
sang the solo, "I would be
true."
