Trees df Life planted across Ontario to
celebrate InternationalYear of Older Person
Retirement Homes
across Ontario that are
members of the Ontario
Residential Care
Association along with
local school children are
celebrating the
International Year of
Older Persons (iYOP)
together by planting a
Tree of Life. Exeter
Villa Retirement Home
is planting its Tree of
Life at Exeter Villa, ' on
Friday at 10 aim.
Local MP Paul Steckle
and Mayor Ben
Hoogenboom will hon-
our this event by being
on hand to help the
seniors and children
plant the tree of life.
Light refreshments will
be served after the cer-
emony. All are welcome
to attend.

tributions that older
persons make to society,

barbecue at IGA in
Exeter. The bake sale was

General Assembly has
declared 1999 as the
International Year of
Older Persons. The
theme for this year is
"Towards a Society of
All Ages" reflecting the
IYOP goal of increasing
public awareness about
the important role that
older persons play in all
walks of life.
Members of the
Ontario Residential Care
Association (ORCA) rep-
resenting the majority
of retirement homes in
Ontario are planting
trees across Ontario on
May 28. Local school
children will attend to
assist in, the planting
ceremony but just as
important, to witness
the event.
A member of ORCA,
the Exeter Villa
Retirement Home has
been caring for elderly
people for over 13 years
and maintains an ongo-
ing tradition of..provid-
ing quality care to the
elderly.
ORCA is a non-profit
association representing
more than 250 retire-
ment residences in
Ontario who must meet
ORCA's strict standards
of operation. All .tiflty
members must undergo
a rigorous evaluation to
ensure they meet
ORC4's . 'standards
before being allowed
membership. ORCAA
