'.' By Katherine Harding
TIMES -ADVOCATE STAFF
GRAND BEND — The
'Bend may be getting an
OPP bike patrol this sum-
mer.
At Monday's meeting
they endorsed a motion
to share the `costs of
funding a rotating bike
patrol with six local.vil-
lages and areas including
Forest, Arkona and
Thedford.
"It is just another form
,a► of policing throughout
the municipality," said
Mayor Cam Ivey.
The new bike patrol
program requires Grand
Bend to kick in $640 as a
one-time capital expense
to help purchase the two
bikes required for the
patrol.
In return the village
will receive 60 hours of
bike patrolling. -
Grand Bend now just
has to wait to see if other
participating villages
tom. accept the OPP's bike
patrol funding proposal.

seeking to move
The president of Grand
Bend's nursery school
approached council to
see if they could rent
unused space in the
youth centre on
Municipal Drive.
"We are looking for a
place of our own," said
nursery school president
Brenda Wiendls.
The nursery school has
operated out of a Grand
Bend church basement
since 1983.
Wiendls said 12 chil-
dren are registered with
the school and the new

Vandalism continues at school
Dear Editor:
This letter is addressed
to the children who have
vandalized the Exeter
Public School sign for the
third time in two
months.
This sign was pur-
chased with money
raised by you and your
parents.
Not only are you disre-
specting the school, but
you are not respecting
all the hard work of the
volunteers, parents and
students who helped to
make this sign happen.
Thisign helps us to
communicate and create
a relationship between
the school ,and school
families.
The police have been
notified and when the
vandals are caught, we
will prosecute!
