Blue Water residents take tour throw,
ZURICH - On May 10
the residents of Blue
Water Rest Home board-
ed the wheelchair bus,
under the direction of
volunteer driver Glen
Thiel, for a trip into the
country. Residents Elda
Wagner, Carman Lovie,
Stewart Thiel, Jim
Parkins, Clara Hamilton,
Ethel Moore, Dorothy
Farrell, Margaret Hess
and Pearl Miller visited
Holmesville and Varna
and watched the farmers
labouring in the fields
planting the season's
crops.
The men's group, led
by Ann McBride, dis-
cussed cars over the
years. Stewart Thiel, Jim
Parkins, Carman Lovie,
Ralph Farrell and Neil
Mustard viewed printsof
various makes over the
years, read articles from
the 1900's, discussed the
physical and mechanical
changes in vehicles over
the years and shared
with each other the
advantages and disad-
vantages of the various
makes they purchased
during their career.
Teddy bears of all sizes
and colours were at the
afternoon tea with resi-
dents on Wednesday.
Some staff and residents
brought
their favourite
of
a teddy bear. Homemade
and teddy bear graham
cookies were served ViKth
refreshments by
Adjuvant Cathy, Shantz
and Ann McBride.
Everyone told their
favourite bear story.
Thursday afternoon
chapel service was con-
ducted by Rev. Pirie
Mitchell, Hensall United
Church, with the assis-
tance of Belva Fuss as
organist. This was Rev.
Mitchell's first service
with _the residents, hav-
ing just recently been
appointed the minister
for the Hensall commu-
nity. Fr. Matthias
Wronski, St. -Boniface
Church, Zurich led the
Catholic service.
Thursday evening Max
'Ducharme'. ands The
Townlit►ers entertained
the residents with old
time musical tunes..
Phyllis . Deichert as
pianist, George Mathonia
on accordion, Ducharme
on violin and Mozart
Gelinas on guitar had
most residents toe tap-
ping and swaying to the
music while others pre-
ferred the dance floor to
struck their stuff.
Auxiliary volunteers
Mary (Curtis) Gingerich
and Maria Mathonia
assisted with the serving
of the evening's refresh-
ments.,
Art Coker
played .:many tunes for
the residents on Friday
afternoon. The Saturday
afternoon movie "Her
Majesty - Mrs. Brown"
was shown depicting the.

chorus under the direc-
tion of Paul Howe and
pianist Beth Haslet
entertained a full house
of residents and their
