Lucan's Don Coghlin aced the 108 -yard 13th hole
using a 9 -iron. The feat was witnessed by Lucan's Joe
Wilson, Al Mitchell and Jim Hearn.

LUCAN -- The Red Wings win the title!
No, not the NHL Red Wings but the Mid -Elgin Red
Wings, a novice 'AAA' level hockey team featuring,
two players from the Lucan area.
The Lucan area players are Birr's Logan Couture
(Lucan Minor Hockey) and Parkhill's Danny Ryan (St.
Patrick School student).
The Red Wings won the Toronto OTTF tourney on.
the weekend. The Red Wings won the final 4-3 ever
the Ontario Regional Sports Express.
The Wings also defeated the Detroit Honeybaked`
Ham Novices 5-2 in the semi-final, Detroit
Compuware 3-0, Cleveland Barons 7-0 and the ,..;
Midwest (USA) Gold 7-3. Mid -Elgin's one Ioss was to
Detroit Honeybaked (4-3) in the round-robin.
Mid -Elgin captain Couture was named the
championship game MVP (one goal, two assists) and
the overall Novice MVP (eight goals, eight assists).
Of special mote: the Midwest Gold team featured
Detroit Red Wings defenceman Chris Chelios's two
sons. Chelios showed up at a couple of arenas to sign
autographs.
Mid -Elgin next heads to Toronto for the Lakeshore
Thunder International tourney set for May 2830.
The junior boys played
with a lot of intensity but
lost 10.0 to Walkerton.
Dave Robertson had an
excellent overall game
as did Tanner Ingram,
Irian }iuxtable and
Ryan Parker.
All three rugby teams
(senior and junior boys,
girls) will compete in the
Huron -Perth tourna-
ment at Stratford on j

Fury lose 60
WOODSTOCK —The
Exeter Fury continued
their early season slide
with a 6-1 loss to
Woodstock Sunday.
The game started poorly
for the Fury when a shot
from a Woodstock player
deflected into Exeter's net
off a defender.
Exeter was also unfortu-
nate on a couple of goals
that bounced off _bodies ;int

his first start in net.
Monteith came up with
