staff's recommendation
to halve the commercial
operators uncompacted
waste fee to $7.50 per
cubic yard from $15
and increase the small
load (pickup truck/small
trailer) tipping fee to
$30 from $20 per load.
Chief administrative
officer Rick Hundey
introduced the changes
in a report to council.
Staff came up with the
fee changes to help win
back commercial cus-
tomers who are hauling
.heir garbage to other
landfills and to make
the small load fee equi-
table compared with
the uncompacted rate

and the compacted rate
of $15.
Staff will continue
working on getting
other Huron County
municipalities to send
their garbage to the
Exeter landfill to maxi-
mize its usage.
Staff will also imple-
ment operations effi-
ciencies they have
found with a report on
those efficiencies due at
the May 17 council
meeting.
The Exeter landfill
has been losing revenue
and incurring bigger
expenditures as waste,
volumes have dropped
over the last two years.
