EXETER -- For the past 10 years, Exeter and area senior citizens have gathered each Tuesday at the Lions Youth Centre for dinner and fellow- ship. More than 70 people enjoyed a roast beef dinner on April 27 to celebrate the milestone. The Town and Country Support Services Dining for Seniors Program started in 1989 to meet the need for people in the community to come togeth- er for a delicious, nutritious meal. The dinners, which take place each Tuesday at noon at the Ex- eter Lions Youth Centre, draw an average of 40 people. Volunteers are an important part of the program and Elaine Skinner of Exeter was recognized last Tuesday for scheduling the volunteers for the past 10 years. Several people attended the celebration who had volunteered and/or attended the dining program since it began. A stole embroidered and donated by home sup- port worker Carol Anne Lostell and a podium built and donated by Sam Skinner were presented. The Clinton Wheelers 'n' Dealers square dancers provided entertainment. Anyone interested in attending the Exeter Dining for Seniors dinners can .call 235-0258. Craftsman Sam Skinner donated a much-needed podium to the Dining for Seniors program in Exeter. Medway's choir and band head to Newyork By H. Davis SAINTSBURY CORRESPONDENT SAINTSBURY - The Rev. Stanley Jay was officient for the Holy Eucharist at St. Patrick's Church on May 2 for the fifth Sunday of Easter. Liz Jay gave the children's focus "How we need Jesus to keep sin under control." The Paschal Candle was lit which will burn until Pentecost. Jay read the scripture lessons and Rose Cunningham was server for the service. The Pru issional hymn was "Jesus is the Man." On May 8 at 7 p.m. St. Patrick's will celebrate their Evening Prayer Service with the men and boys taking the service on Mother's Day. Courtney MacGillivray and members of Medway High School choir and band are in New York City for several days this week. Ron and Margarot Carroll were guests of Art Abbott of Exeter and attended a pancake breakfast at Zion United Church on Saturday. Arnold and Rose Cunningham are entertaining sever- al members of their family on Sunday evening for din- ner, to celebrate their youngest son Allan's 28th birth- day. Happy birthday from all your friends at St. Patrick's and the community. Heather MacGillivray, Rose Cunningham and Hazel Davis attended the. Spring Deanery meeting at Trinity Church, Mitchell on Tuesday evening. St. Patrick's will host the fall deanery in October. On Saturday, Starr Davis entertained a couple of school friends for the day. On Sunday, Suzanne Davis, Travis and Starr attended a birthday party honouring brother Bob Dietrich, held at the Foran's in Centralia. The Davis's on Sunday evening visited with Utta Wennestrom, Pat Skinner and Whitney Coates. at the Exeter VWa. Zurich Dining for Seniors ZURICH - Thirty-eight senior diners enjoyed a roast beef dinner at Zurich Dining for Seniors on April 28. O'Canada and table grace were sung and the 50/50 draw winner was Theresa Stark, Pearl Heimrick and Glena Horner were 50/50 winners at previ- ous dinners. _ Marg Hayter asked Susan Nyenhuis to come up and she thanked her for making new aprons for the diner volunteers. Susan modeled one of the aprons. Happy birthday was sung for one April birthday. Following dinner bingo was played. Winners were: Ross Harnes, Glena Horner, Francis Ayotte, Mary Dickensen and Ina Neeb. The TV dinner was won by Elaine Diechert a visitor from Wingham. Dr. Scott McAuley will be the guest speaker on May 5. Progressive euchre will be played also.
