SHIPKA CQRJ(ESPONDENT
SHIPKA - The annual
meeting of the Shipka
School was held on April
26 with 12 members pre-
sent. The discussion cen-
tred around the closure,
disbanding and sale of the
Community Centre.
Increasing costs and
decreasing use of the
school makes its viability
questionable.
Members with concerns
regarding the pending clo-
sure and sale of the school
should contact John
Muller, Sheona Baker,
Ross Pickering or Harold
Finkbeiner by May 26,
1999. .
Happy birthday wishes

of Guelph spent the week-
end with Gary, Sheona
and Jeffery Baker. Joining
them on Sunday evening
to celebrate .Emily's eighth
birthday were Don and
Sharon Baker, Ken and
F
Marg Baker and Mike and
Donna Yarrow.
David Rhode of Mitchell
was a Sunday visitor with
his grandparents Ken and
Marg Baker.
As We Sow
Even now it is time to
plant our seeds in the
sweet-smelling good
earth, believing as we
sow, even so shall we
reap.
First we must plant five
rows of "peas" - pre-
paredness, promptness,
perseverance, politeness
and prayer.
Next we will plant three
rows of "squash" - squash
gossip, squash criticism,
and squash indifference.
Then we shall plant four
rows of "lettuce" - let us
be faithful, let us be loyal,
let us be true, let us love
one another.
No garden is complete.
without ``turnips" - so let
us turn up with a smile,
turn up for church, turn
up with a new idea, and
turn up with real determi-
nation to do some good
and make the world a bet-
ter place to live in.
