Baillargeon said the build-
ing committee has select-
ed architects Robert Ritz
of Stratford and Exeter's
MVR Designs (Michael
Van Raay) to draw up the
plans for the new church.
The final designs have to
be approved by the
Diocese of London's build-
ing committee.
The Precious Blood
building committee next
needs to wind up the con-
struction work contracts.
Precious Blood Mission
was given the go ahead to
build a new church by the
Diocese last December.
Baillargeon said the new
church won't be the
Sistine Chapel — it will be
a simple, multi -functional
building that will seat 500
for Sunday Mass and will
include a hall accommo-
dating 200 and office
space.
"The community isn't
looking to build anything
expensive or elaborate,"
Baillargeon said.
The Precious Blood
building committee has
looked at other relatively
new Catholic churches
from across the region
including ones in
Wingham and Listowel to
get ideas.
Baillargeon said there is

no time table for a
ground -breaking or for
the new church to be
completed.
Possibly the most impor-
tant factor involved in
building the church is that
over 50 per cent of the
total cost of the new
church (construction,
engineering, fixtures)
must be raised before the
ground breaks.
Precious Blood fund-
raisers have $510,000 in
the bank over the 12
years the project has been
either on the go or on the
backburner.
The project started in
earnest in the mid -80s but
hit some snags in the mid-
90s and went into hiber-
nation. The project was
resurrected last June.
Precious Blood has
shared Trivett Anglican
Church for 25 years in a
rel;►tionship Baillargeon
called "magnificent."
But the time has come
for the Precious Blood
congregation to have their
own home.
Baillargeon said the
Precious Blood congrega-
tion is 275 families strong
and boasts over 500 mem-
bers.

Baillargeon said it is
important to Catholics to

"There is a generation of

have never been in a
