Lucan had round-robin results of wins over Elora 4-2, Burford 8-0, and tied Elmvale 4-4. In the semi- final they beat Aylmer 5-1, then blanked Elmvale 3-0 in the cham- pionship final behind the shutout goaltending of Blair Bennett. Other teams in the 8 -team tourney were Exeter, Penetang and Merriton. In addition to winning the OMHA DU- D Novice cluunmoriship for the second straight year, the Lasers won four out of five tournaments and were finalists in the other one. Morris Awards at ilamilton Thursday. Ward scored a 1,325 first five game pinfall Wednesday and then added a second five game superlative score of 1,448, including singles- of 321, 204, 264, 348 and 251 to move up from eleventh position to fourth and qualified for the top five match play, single knock- out, stepladder finals Saturday. In the first game of the finals, Ward, coached by Level Two Certified coach and Zurich Association life member 011ie Edwards, Dashwood, had to compete against fifth place Gary Phair from Western Ontario. Ward was com- petitive until the eighth frame but opened in the ninth and tenth and had to to Phair. The loss dropped Ward to fifth place. Bluewater ladies single Ruth Poulsen made the first five game cut but fin- ished well down in the final five. The Bluewater mixed team won four of its eight matches while the ladies team took one game in eight and the men's team accomplished only a tie in one of their eight games. Port Stanley bowler overwhelmed in $5,000 shot Molson Breweries pro- vided a Port Stanley woman with the opportuni- ty to roll one ball to score a strike for which she would win $5,000. Molson chose her name from amongst 13,000 bowlers. She was so ner- vous in front of the 300 person grandstand that she rolled a gutter ball but the spectators gave her a rousing round' of applause anyway. Molson's expects to continue offering this opportunity again next year at the O.F.P.B.A. Ontario Open for the Sidney L. Morris Awards.
