LUCAN — So long
Lakers, hello Wellesley.
The Lucan Jr. D Irish
hockey club finished off
the Port Stanley Lakers in
six games in their best of
seven Yeck- Confereencer
final series with a 4-3
thriller at Port Stanley
Saturday.
The Irish built a 2-0
lead starting with a goal
just 46 seconds into the
game from Greg
Henderson with assists by
Neil Judson and. Chad
Greenlee.
Jason Smith scored
Lucan's second goal from
Mark Phillips at 16:27.
Port scored their first
goal mid -way through the
period. Lucan's Corey
Smith restored his team's
two goal lead a minute
and a half later from Mike
Davis and Phillips.
The Lakers crept to
within a goal with ,8:40
remaining in the first
period.
The score remained 3-2
till Lucan's Justin
Mulligan scored an unas-
sisted goal at 15:27 of the
second period.
Port again made the
game too close for com-
fort forthe strong Lucan
contingent of fans by
scoring while shorthand-
ed at 13:57 of the second.
The Irish
hung on
through the
third period
for the win.
Mulligan was
handed a
slashing minor
penalty with
7:39 left in the game but
his teammates managed
to kill Port's powerplay.

game to keep his team on

Lucan won game five 5-
3 at home on March 31.

from a separated shoul-

Henderson didn't finish
the last game due to an
ankle injury and is listed
questionable to start the
next game. Wheatley
ends the Irish injured list
with a sore hip but is
expected to play.
Lucan won the home ice
advantage flip and will
host Wellesley tonight at
8:15 p.m. Game two is at
Wellesley on Friday at 8
p.m. Game three is at
Lucan on Sunday at 8
p.m.
Dates and times for
games four through seven
have yet to be announced.
