Eight -five people sat down to a smorgasbord supper prepared by Ross Veal' and the Reconstruction Committee. It was served by the youth of the congregation. Rev. Carter said grace. Sharon Passmore conducted a Stretch and Bend pro- gram after the meal. A sing along was led by Rev. Carter and Marjorie Johns accompanied on the piano. A surprise humorous skit was enacted by the choir members. A "Sprint" skit was put on by Melonie Miller and Marilyn Pym. Agnes and Vanessa Bray performed a piano duet. • A kitchen band comprised of the Elimville women dressed up, with Marjorie Johns accompanying them on the piano entertained. Johns also played the piano with her back to the keyboard. Amusing readings were given by Marilyn Pym about syrup making, and by Melonie Miller about the flu. The Usborne Guild comprised of Ray Cann, i.en Duncan and Bill Rohde on violins, Harry Jeffery on the banjo accompanied by Jean Hodgert on the piano played some toe -tapping music. The Reconstruction Committee held a "Bored" meet- ing which was humorous. Several draws were made with the following win- ners: Floyd Cooper, Harry Jeffery, Robyn Etherington, Larry Fulton, Rev. Carter and Ruth Skinner„ Rev. Carter and Barry Miller gave closing remarks. Paul Warwick was the M.C. for the program, telling several jokes. Good Friday service At the Good Friday evening service at Elimville, Rev. Carter lit the Christ Candle and read scriptures. Symbols were presented by Janis Richardson (a cross), Chad Smith (water), Ola Batten (crown of thorns), Joan Skinner (black cloth), Floyd Cooper (a rock). Eleanor Westgate of London played a drum during the symbols presentation, interspersed with scripture readings. Prayers were given by Bruce Delbridge and Rev. - Carter. The congregation celebrated communion and put nails in a basket held by Judith Parker. Easter Sunrise service The Easter Sunrise Service was entitled "We Love To Tell The Story" and Vanessa Bray opened the service with a flute solo "Morning Has Broken". Members of the Senior Youth Class led in the service. The worship committee were in charge of the break- fast. Church service Re.v Carter was in charge of the Easter Sunday Saintsbury celebrates Easter SAINTSBURY - St. Patricks was decorated on Sunday with Easter lilies, dogwood branches and spring flowers as the congregation and a number of visitors gathered to celebrate Easter. The Rev. Stanley Jay was officient for the Holy Eucharist Service at 10:30 a.m. Processional hymn was sung. Courtney and Katie -Scarlett MacGillivray were servers for the service and assisted with the lighting of the Pastoral Candle. Children's focus "To experience the wonder of what God has done." Mabel Needham was remembered in prayer. The closing hymn was "Rejoice the Lord is King." Everyone was invited into the parish hall for Easter brunch and fellowship. There will be no service at St. Patricks April 11 as all congregations in Perth Deanery are invited to attend and participate in the Service of Witness at 10:30 a.m. at St. James' Stratford with The Reverend Timothy Connor and reception to follow. Personals Arnold and Rose Cunningham entertained 23 mem- bers of their family Sunday evening. Ron and Margaret Caroll's family were home for Easter Sunday dinner guests and celebrated their son Ian's birthday. Several women from St. Patrick's enjoyed the Maundy Thursday service at St. Paul's Cathedral.• Bob, Heather, Katie -Scarlett and mother Stevie MacGillivray visited with Mabel Needham Friday at St. Joseph's Health Centre in London. Bill and Doris Murray of Strathroy called on Hugh and Hazel Davis on Wednesday. St. Patrick's women are reminded of the Spring Deanery meeting to be held April 27, at Trinity Anglican Church Mitchell. Church service. She lit the Christ Candle with the help of Richard Johns. She told the youth a story "The Easter Apple." The choir sang two anthems "Halleluia The King" and "He Is Risen" accompanied by organist Jean Hodgert. Grace Pym read scriptures. Barry Miller read a "Minute for Mission" Maggie Miller and Megan Parker received the offering and Sarah Miller and Wilfred Veldman carried boxes forward filled for the food bank. Lilies at the front of the church were placed in mem- ory of: Floyd Stewart by Margaret and family; Howard and Marg Pym by Grace and family; Gilbert and Ruby Duncan, Wilbur and Annie Miller by Ken and Dorothy Duncan; Chris Wilhelm and Lawrence Cole by Rob Lynn, Ryan Fulton and Brian Richardson; Philip Johns by Marjorie and family; Robert Cann by Ray and Alice; Henry and Maggie Rohde, William and Mary Thomson by Bill and Rhoda; Harvey and Bessie McClure, Philip Johns by Gerald and Carolyn and family; Helen and Fred Dawson by Murray and Bea. riouncements 1,10 Standing committees will meet at 7 p.m. on April 7, followed by a Council meeting at 8:30 p.m. at Elimville Church. On April 13 the U.C.W. will meet at Thames Road to entertain Mitten, Zion, Hibbert and Caven. The pro- gram committee will be Margaret Stewart, Karen Etherington, Agnes Bray, Sharon Pavkeje, Ruth Anne Osgood and Judith Parker. The Senior Youth Group will be having a 24 hour wake-a-thon on April 16 and 17. The money raised in this activity will be used by Mission and Service. Contact any member of the Senior Youth Group or Kathy Bray if you wish to support this cause. A lasagna and spaghetti supper will be held at Thames Road on April 24. Sittings will be at 5 and 6:30 p.m. Adults $10, children six to 12 $5, and chil- dren five and under are free. Advance tickets only. Tickets are available from the finance committee, Fred Delbridge, Helen Kadey, Shirley Kerslake and Sharon Passmore. A Spring Sing Concert will be held on April 25 at 7 p.m. at Thames Road United Church featuring "Heartsong", a male trio from London; "The Bonds of Love" quartet from Woodstock; and Roy Dreaning, a gospel recording artist from Ireland. The I.P.M. '99 Quilt Show at S.D.R.C. will be held' April 8 from 2-9 p.m.; April 9, 10-8; April 10 and 11, 10-4.
