News from Exeter PS EXETER - Our recent Book Fair was very suc- c`8 s' �f ul ' 't'li �e"pVr o fit§ ' frb& the bookfair were used to purchase over $600 worth of new books for the library as well as an equal value of software. Many of the primary and junior students have especially enjoyed our new Magic School Bus CD Roms. On Monday, March 29 students from Grades 4 to 8 participated in a Celebration of the Arts Day held in conjunction with South Huron and its elementary feeder schools. Students partici- pated in Art, Drama, Dance and Music work- shops..A special music clinician, Mr. David Strahan, directed and worked with the massed choir from all the elemen- tary schools. this choir and individual choirs from each elementary school demonstrated their abilities in a concert on Monday evening and mobiles, totem poles, graphing art and pottery from the art workshops were also displayed. On April 12, Michael Mitch.ell is coming to Exeter Public School. He performs for the primary division at 1:30 and for the junior and intermedi- ate divisions at 2:30. Parents and/or grandpar- ents are welcome to come. On April 27, we will have "Jump Rope for Heart". More information will be coming out soon. There will be a talent show on May 4 at 7:00,. ,p.m. at EPS. Students si'i(a{itd start practising to get their acts ready for tryouts. Mrs. Waun's Grade 1 class had a new student on April Fool's Day. His name was Jacob Kirton and he is Mrs. Waun's new grandson. Grade 8 students in Mrs. Beattie's 'class were studying pneumatics this week . They created some very interesting pneumat- ic devices with paper tubes, paper mache, tubes and syringes. Residents look forward to family social night By Carmel Sweeney ZURICH CORRESPONDENT ZURICH - Everyone is invited to a family social night at the Zurich Arena on April 23 from 7 to 11 p.m. The cost is $15 for a family, $5 for adults and $2 for students. It will be an evening of music, dancing, a silent auction and a 50/50 draw. Tickets are available from Patty Groot, 236-7411 or Carolyn Mathonia, 236-4388. All proceeds will go to St. Boniface School Council. Any donations for the silent auction table will be appreciated. A Foot Care Clinic will be held at the Maple Woods Apartments on April 12 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and everyone is to bring their own towel. The annual spring rally for the Golden Agers will be held at the Legion in Seaforth on April 14 beginning with registration at 9:15 a.m. The cost is $5 with lunch. The next meeting for the Zurich Golden Agers will be on April 12 at the Township Hall at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. The H.O.M.E. Region Ice Skating Bursary Show held in Lucan on April 3 was great. The Guides and Brownies sold their cookies door to door on April 6. If you missed them, phone Nicole Veroude at 236-7631 as soon as possible. A C.W.L. Day of Reflection will be held at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Grand Bend on April 14 from 9 a.m. td 3:30 p.m. The speaker will be Sister Shirley McAuley. Women are asked to bring their own bag lunch. Phone Coby at 236-4038 if you need a ride. Members of St. Boniface Youth group in grades five and six will be going to Town and Country Lanes in Zurich on April 8 to play Glow in the Dark Bowling. They are to be there at 6:45 p.m. St. Anne's High School in Clinton is holding a fashion show on April 8 and 9, beginning at 7:30 p.m. each night. Admission is $8 for adults; students and seniors cost $5 at the door. An elimination draw and dance is being planned by the Bean Festival Committee on May 15 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the Community Centre. Advance tickets only,;. cost' $10. Lunch will be provided by Jerry Rader, with music by Mozart's Melody Makers. A jackpot prize worth $1,000 will be awarded. The proceeds will go the new ice surface .at the arena. The Plowing Match Quilt Show will be held in Exeter at the Rec Centre from April 9 to 11. The Annual General Meeting for Hay Communications Co-operative Limited will be held at the Zurich Community Centre on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. Elections will be held at this meeting. Personals I hope that everyone had a nice Easter and were able to visit with family members. Several get-togeth- ers were held around the village to enjoy Easter din- ner. The families of Jerome Sweeney, Herb Klopp and Town of South Huron boundaries still undetermined EXETER — While the organization committee for the amalgamation of Exeter and Stephen and Usborne townships is almost finished its work, the issue of boundaries has still not been determined. The committee deferred discussion of the issue at its meeting last Wednesday because it is waiting for a response from Hay Twp. regarding a request to annex the northern portion of Dashwood. Dashwood, a police village, is split by Highway 83. A public meeting in Dashwood two weeks ago indicated the resi- dents don't want the village to be torn apart. Hay Twp. council was slated to discuss the issue at last night's council meeting after the T -A went to press. Hay will then have to consult with its. group of six on April 14. The Exeter-Stephen- Usborne group meets again on April 22 in the Exeter council cham- bers at 7:30 p.m. i i i J J ► a .. Mozart Gelinas Jr. were some that enjoyed brunch at Erb's on Sunday. Family dinners were held at the home of Mary -Lou Denomme, Annie VanRaay, Louis Farwell, Vic and Irene Hartman and Gerard and Mary Dv 'rarme to name only a few. Earl and Anne Flaxbard travelled to Ingersoll to the home of Shirley and Ross Cooper for their family Easter get-together. Neil and Melissa Francis and Aaron of Orleans, Ottawa, spent from Good Friday to Monday at the home of her parents Mozart and Marie Gelinas Sr. While there, family members dropped in at various times to visit and enjoyed getting together as usual. Welcome back home from the sunny south, Dot Hess, Wilma and Harry- Pennings, and Allan and Isabelle Gascho. Joe and Rose Regier spent the past three weeks is; Florida and arrived home in time to spend Easter with their family. Kevan and Shelley Geoffrey and children travelled to Windsor for the Easter weekend. They stayed with his brother, Gary and Anna Geoffrey. The boys went to a hockey game in Detroit on Saturday. Mark and Cynthia Strickland spen A-, past two weeks in Florida at Disney World. Gord and Jean Hay babysat their grandchildren in Hensall on the weekend for Peggy and Ralph Mathonia. Best wishes for a speedy recovery are extended to Ted Geoffrey, Deny Overholt, Leila Becker and Mark Masse. Pat and Barb O'Connor of Lake Bluff, Chicago, spent Easter and this week visiting with her mother Gerry Kane. Congratulations to Keith and Margaret Westlake on the occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary on April 8. An open house was held in their honour on Saturday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Hall. A retirement celebration was held at the Goderich hospital on March 29 for five staff members who have recently retired. Jerome Sweeney was one of the hon- oured, having worked at the hospital for the past 23 years. He received a gold watch. Happy birthday wishes go to Hilda Vanderhoek on April 7 and to Laura Shanks who was 16 on April 2. Wayne Smith and son Ryan of Minden spent a few days visiting with his parents Ralph and Audrey Smith over Easter. Mark and Andrea Watson of Barrie spent the Easter weekend visiting her parents Bob and Linda Hendrick and relatives. Rachelle Beauchamp, a student at Lawson Hall College in Sault Ste. Marie spent the Easter Break with her family and visiting friends and relatives in the area. Cousins Malinda Gelinas, Kristin Beer and Renee Sweeney, who are roommates in London, spent the Easter weekend in Zurich with their families.
