In the morning, resident Philippa Steckle played the piano for hymn singing. The parents of Zurich Elementary School pupils donated leftover wool to Francine Learn who created two afghans for residents. The ' Lakeview Conservative Mennonite Church choir visited the home on March 23 and sang hymns for the resi- dents. The residents enjoy the youth group of the choir and visited with their parents fol- lowing their program. 'v (ednesday afternoon tea had a spring flavour. Silk and fresh cut flow- ers were gathered from throughout the home to decorate the tables. The china cups and saucers and large floral decora- tions gave everyone a spring feeling. The return of robins about the property are a sure sign of spring. On March 25 at tie residents mental aero - Volunteer efforts recognized Two of Exeter Villa's volunteers, Fran Midde, front left and Doris Peebles, front right, received Ontario Volunteer Service Awards on March 24 from Marilyn Muskinski, Parliamentary Assistant for the Premier at a ceremony in London. Mickle was awarded a 10 -year service pin and Peebles received a five- year service pin. The ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of Citizenship, Cul- ture and Recreation at the London Convention Centre. They named as many flowers as they could and described their colour and formation. They were given phrases by the attending Adjuvant Nancy Campbell, R.P.N. about a flower and were able to name the flower from its description. On March 25 Campbell led the reminiscing group and the residents discussed 'The Treasures In My Attic.' They discussed their favourite keepsakes and family heirlooms they received from their elders and in turn passed on to their chil- dren. They shared sto- ries of their old report cards and pictures they have kept of family and friends. Family bibles, china, quilts, furniture, jew- ellery were some of the many favourite articles. Rev. Bob Peebles of Exeter, a retired United P.hurch minister, con- ducted Thursday after- noon Chapel Service. Fr. Matthias Wronski, St. Boniface Church, Zurich celebrated mass. On Friday evening, 14 Easter bunny prizes were won by the resi- dents during bingo... games, along with the normal prizes of choco- late bars, cookies, crack- ers and cheese and tid- bits. Tenants of Maplewoods Apartments enjoyed a noon meal at B.W_.R.H. on March 29. Tenants Ila. O'Rourke, Rita Snyder, Meda O'Brien, Ina Neeb, Lottie Grenier, Louise Hayter, Anna Erb, Vera Shantz, Helen and Lloyd Otterbein were the•din- ers. The tenants are independant in their transportation, while others were escorted to the home with. the wheelchair bus. Condolences to the family and friends of the late Geraldine Gascho, a former tenant of Maplewoods Apartments who 'passed away on March 28. She will be missed by her husband John. The Gaschos moved to the apartment complex in September 1995 from Powassan, Ontario, but are well known in the Zurich area having lived in earlier years. best wishes to Verda Baechler, a tenant of Maplewoods Apartments who is a patient at South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
