Science and Inventor's Fair competition. Top prizes will be awarded to six students who will . rep- resent the region at the Canada Wide Science Fair to be held in Edmonton later in May. The fair will be held in the Seaforth and District Community Centre, locat- ed at' 122 Duke St. in Seaforth. Participating students will be involved in a _sci- ence challenge program for the half day they are not being judged. This program is put on by OAC science students from Goderich District Collegiate and the pro- gram will be hosted in the gymnasium of Seaforth District High School. Student projects will be judged between 10 a.m. and 4. p.m. on Wed., April 7. During this time the fair is closed to the public. At 4:30 p.rn. the doors are opened for public viewing until 6:30 p.m. The awards ceremony will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last until approximately 7 p.m. The Huron County Science Fair and the Perth Inventor's Fair have his- torically produced top- notch student projects which have been recog- nized at the Canada Wide Science Fair. Students from this area have clearly demonstrated their sci- ence knowledge and cre- ative energies are second to none. The Regional Science and Inventor's Fair is affil- iated with the Youth Foundation for Science, Canada, the primary sponsor for the Canada Wide Science Fair. For the first time this year, Intel Corporation, sponsor of the International Science and Engineering Fair held in Texas each year, is sponsoring every regional science fair across Canada with prizes related to computer technology. Locally the Avon Maitland -Huron Perth.. Regional Science and Inventor's Fair is co-spon- sored by the Avon Maitland and Huron Perth Catholic District School Boards and the Foundation for Enriching Perth Huron. Alice Gardiner presided. for -the business meeting,"' opening with a hymn, fol- lowed by worship service prepared and presented by Mary and Cathie Elliott. Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Eight members answered the roll call. Gardiner presented the study book on "Why They Flee", dealing with pover- ty, undernourishment, political and racial prob- lems, religion and war. Eleanor Richmond led in prayer. Betty Lou Norris, is decorating the tables for the Good Friday pot luck dinner and service on April 2 at 12:30. The guest speaker will be speaking on, Sleeping Children - Around the World. Staffa Women's Institute members, enjoyed lunch out .in Exeter, prior to their March meeting, host- ed by Doris Miller at , her home on March 24. The owner advised that someone had entered his cottage and stole two chainsaws worth $850. The theft occurred sometime between October and February. Taken were a yellow 22" Pioneer model P42 chainsaw and a blue Homelite 22" chainsaw. Electronic equipment stolen On February 25 Radio Shack on Main 'Street in Seaforth reported a theft of electronic equipment. Between 8:30-8:45 p.m. a male walked out of the store with two items under his coat. The store' clerk was busy. with other customers. Stolen was a Cantel modot A11270 cell phone and a Realistic Pro 63 portable scanner. The suspect is described as 40 years, 6'1 180 lbs. light coloured hair, and wearing a brown leather waist le h jacket. Tools stol A toolbox and tools were sto en from the rear of a truck on Jackson St. in Brussels on February 26. The toolbox was grey in colour and the tools were worth approximately $1,000. They were in a homemade box in the back of the truck. .
