Skaters put on great performance in Zurich

ZURICH - The Zurich
and Area Skating Club
put on a great show in
Zurich reef 'y with a
theme "Da Dance,
Dance." The music, cos-
tumes, decorations and
M.C. Barbara Wheeldon
all added to its success.
Solo skaters were Scott
Kipfer,. Jessica. Geoffrey,
'Jenna DeGroot, Megan
Gingerich, Heidi Klopp
and partner .Skylar
VanOsch, Maegan

Skating lessons are fin-
ished now and the exec-
utive will be getting
ready for their family
potluck dinner and
awards night at the
Community Centre on
April 18 at 4:30 p.m.
The H.O.M.E. Bursary
Ice Show will be held in
Lucan on April 3, begin-
ning with a hockey game
at 4:30 p.m. and the
skating show at 6:15
p.m.
Nineteen teams partici-
pated in a volleyball
tournament on Saturday
at the arena and St.
Boniface School gym.
Family members. of
Kevin Geoffrey, from
Detroit, Windsor and
Brampton, spent the
weekend in town to take
part in the tournament.

Betty and Dave Siddail of

ine the growth rings of a
recently cut conifer with
Ausable Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority general
manager Tom Prout dur-
ing the Hay Swamp fo-
restry tour Saturday af-
ternoon. About 50
people examined the
state-of-the-art logging
operation which re-
moves every fourth row
of trees from the conifer
plantation. Removing the.
trees improves the
health of the plantation
and promotes the
growth of native hard-
wood species. The me-
chanical tree harvester
and processor are
owned and operated by
Harold Piggott Enterpris-
es of Woodstock.

They. attended the skat-
ing carnival on Sunday.
The Zurich and Area
Arena Improvement
Committee are meeting
on a weekly basis to
finalize arena improve-
ment plans.
There is a New Year's
Eve Dance being
planned for December
31, 1999.
The next meeting will
be held March 31 at
7:30 p.m. at the arena.
Canvassers for •the
Cancer Society will soon
be going door-to-door
asking for donations.
The last hockey game
of the season, a father
and sonmatch, was held
at the arena last
Thursday. The score
was 14-13 for the
fathers. -Afterwards, the
enjoyed a pizza party at
the home =of Randy and
Nancy Regier.
The next Ladies
Auxiliary meeting will be
on April 6 at 7 p.m.
The Region #3 annual
meeting will be held
April 7 in Mitchell at .the.
Ritz Lutheran Villa from
9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The
cost is $9 with lunch. If

meeting ,will be held
April 5 at 1:30 p.m. at.

The Sparks, Brownies
and Guides will be mak-
ing Easter crafts at their
meeting this week. Their
annual "Cookie Day" will
be held April 6 begin-
ning at 6:30 p.m.
The Zion Lutheran
Church in Dashwood is
holding an Easter Egg
Hunt, along with crafts
and a video at the parish
hall on April 3 from
10:30 a.m. to noon.

ages of two and 12 and

The Zurich Cubs are
busy with "Jungle Lore"
preparations for their
District Camp in May. At
their meeting tonight,
March 31, they are plan-
ning to go to the Imax
Theatre in London.
