The Annual Canoe Rally sponsored by the Stanley Township Came Rally is to be Sunday, April 11 with registration to begin at 11:30 a.m. There is a raffle on a 15 foot Algonquin Canoe supplied by Huron Outfitters. Tickets can be purchased by any rec committee member, the Varna General Store or at the Township Office. So get your tickets . The Draw will be the on same day as the rally. Get your canoes dug out and shined up. The Stanley Township Rec Committee are also sponsoring the New Year's Eve dance. Tickets are $50 a person , which includes a 7pm hot buffet lunch, live band `Junction 21" and hats, noisemakers etc. Get your tickets early from any rec committee member. A great way t) ring in the .Millennium right close to home! The Stanley Township Ball Registration is Saturday April 3rd and Saturday, April 10th from 9 - 11 am or call Brenda Consitt at 565 - 2728. Anyone who has ball shirts from last year please return them. Clinton High School is hosting a Fashion Fiesta April 1 at 1:30 pm and also at 7:30 pm. A few locals from the Varna area will be participating in this event. The Varna Church Pork Barbecue will be held on June 16th from 4:30 - 7pm. Everyone Welcome! On April 16 at 8pm Huron Centennial School is sponsoring Bingo at the Bayfield Community Centre. April 1 is the Maundy Thursday Service in Varna Church .Varna U.C.W. ladies will have a short meeting following. There will be Good Friday Service in Brucefield. Sunday April 4, Easter Sunday will be in Varna . On April 11, Church will be in Varna and at 7:30 p.m. there will .be a Covenanting Service for Elly Van Bergen. Five Alive invites you to 'Guess Who Is Coming to Dinner at Goshen Church on Saturday, April 10. Please inform the Five Alive Committee before Easter Weekend if you plan to take part. Applications for Summer Church Camps are on the board. See Elly for Applications for Camp Counselor positions. The Varna Crokinole Club hosted a tournament in Exeter on Saturday. The Winner in the B Division was Hugh Kidney from St. Jacobs and the runner up was Ivan, McClymont Varna Club. Playing off in the A Division from Varna Club were Joe Pulop, Ralph Stephenson, Raymond Beierling, Jason Beierling and Bob Russell. Winning the A Division was Daniel Chantz from St. Jacobs Club and run- ner up was Jason Beierling. Congratulations to all who took part and to the winners. The Varna Club will meet Tuesday March 30 for their handi- cap tournament . Some members of the Club will be traveling to Hanover on April 24th to play croki- nolo. There will be a sup- per on April 13 for all members, spares and their family. Following this around 8pm their will be an Open Crokinole Party for anyone wanting to try their finger out at some fun crokinole. The Club is always looking for more members.
