Times-Advocate, 1999-03-24, Page 1818 Exeter Times -Advocate Wednesday, March 24, 1999 Community Magic show coming to town EXETER -- Will John Kaplan pull the Easter bunny out of his hat when he brings his magic show to Exeter on April 1? Only Kaplan and the Easter bunny know for sure. Kaplan and his entourage visited Exeter a few years ago but he has some new tricks up his sleeve for next Thursday's two-hour show starting at 7 p.m. at the South Huron Recreation Centre. A member of the Exeter Public School staff will be cut in half and another volunteer will be levitated above the stage. Sponsored by the Exeter Lions Club, Lion Tom Hartai says the evening is a great family-oriented event. The show includes ample audience participation, antics, tricks and illusions. Tickets are $6 at the door. Advance tickets are $5 per person or $20 per family and are available at Stedman's, Shopper's Drug Mart or Thomas H. Fine Menswear in Exeter. Fred Penner performing at Heritage Theatre in Windham March 25 WINGHAM - Fred Penner is no stranger to the young and young at heart and will be at the Wingham Town Hall Heritage Theatre on March 25 at 1 p.m. and again at 7 p.m. Fred's dynamic live perfor- mances are crucial to his success. He, along with the Cat's Meow Band, consistently play to packed houses, of children and parents across North America. To captivate throngs of energetic fans for 60 minutes, this consum- mate family entertainer mixes his music with comedic routines, not only to enchant the little ones, but to delight their parents as well. "As we all struggle to make time for our fami- lies; let this show and the power of music comfort and entertain you," said Janice Ballagh of the Wingham Town Hall Heritage Theatre. "Anyone who was at the Barrage concert on March 11 left with one word on their lips - Wow," Ballagh said. But because the group is relatively unknown in this area (soon to change all that!) it was poorly attended. The crowd that was there just loved it! It was an amazing show that left everybody speechless but the fear of the unknown for some prevented them from coming and enjoying the show of a lifetime. Correction EXETER - The Times - Advocate lost its bearings when it came to the front page story on the new Canadian Tire store last week. The new store will be on Thames Road East beside Seip's valu-mart, not on Thames Road West as reported. Also, the concern Exeter council had with the plans in September were about motorists making left hand turns while east- bound on Thames Road, not with motorists making left hand turns while westbound. The Times -Advocate regrets any confusion these errors may have caused. • Have a news tip?
