Parkhill's Klass won second place for his `Shoreline Shimmer'. Merit awards went to London's Tom O'Shea (a monoprint called 'Easter'),Toronto's Fred Collins (`Grand Bend') and London's Bonnie Parkinson (`Contemplation'). PaintThe Huron Shores organizer Barry Richman, a Grand Bend artist, was pleased with the show's growth this season and with the new venue."What this has shown me is the show is sustainable," he said. "1 think we have a happy home and a great part- nership" with the museum. Shipka area residents tour Portugal By A. Morenz SHIPKA CORRESPONDENT SHIPKA-Velma Russell, 1ashwood; Mabel Fraser of Shipka and her sister, Evelyn Nicholson, of ourtright and friend Kay aiusley, of Sarnia, returned home from a 23 day trip to Algarve, Portugal. While there they enjoyed several tours around Portugal seeing all the white washed houses with red tile roofs and artistiacally decorat- ed chimneys. They also toured in Spain, shopped in Seville and had a guided visit of the cathedral. Euchre games were held, at Shipka Community Centre on March 9 with the east gropu in charg.e Seven tables were In play. Winners were: ladies high - Theresa Rock, ladies lone hands - Doreen Finkbeiner, ladies lOw - Nola Ratz. Mons high Mrion Horner playing a mans card. Mens lone hands - Walter Weber. Mens low - Jim Pickering. The next euchre will bo March 30 at 1:30 p.m. Ken and Margaret Baker were guests on Friday with Mark, Vicki, Rachael and Amanda Grand Bend. Lawson of St. Marys, cele- brating great grandaugh- ter Amanda's first,birth- day. Rachel Turner of London, spent some March braek holidays with her grandparents Earl and June Rader. The theme at Grand Bend United Church on March 21, was about the power of Jesus. !della Gabel played piano and organ music for the singing, filling in for organist Elva Mctntrye.On March 21 a quilted wall hanging was on display at the United Church. The quilt will be entered at the quilt show in April, after that it will be on display at the TD bank in Grand Bend, as a promotion for the auction on June 11.
